need a sign for the front door
Comments (22)I have two doors that are very near each other. The patio door faces the sidewalk, but the step up is a little too big (so I thought). I have had CL people climb up the brick wall (there's a raised garden in front of the patio and door) and come to that door! I tried to beef up the front door and made it a little more inviting than the side door. I still have people coming to the "side"...I just deal with it. Something that I found that I really like is a large, adhesive monogram for the front door. I think it looks pretty nice. They come larger and smaller and in all sorts of colors/styles. I photoshopped the number off the door so none of you stalkers will come find me. ;) The number is above the knocker, so it "balances" out the monogram (I think). Pardon the tennis balls...they're my dogs and I have since bought a little basket and trained him to drop them in there before coming in from playing fetch....See MorePhotoshop help for Restaurant Exterior
Comments (32)Suero, thank you so much! Any way you could try Farrow and Ball Down Pipe on the bottom, or a color that looks like the pictures below? Lighter and more green? Maybe the deep charcoal is too much. And for the top how about a nice neutral taupe? With white for the trim and black windows? Maybe this will give it more of an inviting look a little coastal? I love this restaurant tavern in LA. It's always been my inspiration. We are adding on a cute little outdoor deck to the left of the building and I will have slate planters with boxwoods, flowers and maybe someday and awning. Some of these pictures are from google earth, so not the best. From Exterior From Exterior From Exterior From Exterior...See MoreSpeaking of noisy restaurants~~how about
Comments (8)I do not mind normal noise from 7am to 11pm, after that I do not think it is too much too ask for people to be a bit quiet, taking loud phone calls any time of day in the hall is really a nono to me. If we are staying somewhere several days, I pick a nicer hotel. If it is just for a night, I am not as picky. Really it does not matter much if it is a pricey place or not, people are rude everywhere. Pudgeder, in Tahoe we had a room next to the laudry room and we were like 'oh no'. It was one of the quietest rooms we had ever been in. I think they must have insulated it more. I made note of the room # for future stays. I used to worry about being in a room next to dogs. Now I prefer it, esp if the dog owners are older, they are the most polite and quiet people and the dogs are so sweet....See MoreSouth Beach Restaurants
Comments (12)Thanks so much for the suggestions! Maddielee, I am so happy that we will be there for part of the SB Food and Wine Festival and will get busy buying tickets for that event! That is perfect for what we are looking to do. Thank you! Mitchdesj, Casa Tua looks perfect. I hope we can get an outside table. DD will really enjoy the European vibe, having lived in Italy, while in college and beyond. Thank you! ljr, Both Primes look great. Hmmm....how do we choose, or do we plan on both? Thank you! Runninginplace, you have given us excellent suggestions and we are certainly willing to stretch our local a bit for a fine dining experience. Thank you! Holly-kay-Your post sends shivers down my spine. With 3 children, no signs of cardiac trouble....I can't begin to imagine how you coped with all of that. Thank you for sharing your story. One of the things I tell DD is that we now know this was inevitable and nothing could have been done to stop it. Had they married and had children, she would be walking in your shoes. It isn't much consolation, but it does rid her of some of the guilt she feels. "If I hadn't gone to the office that Saturday, I would have been there and could have called 911". NO! Everyone has told her that he had the type of heart attack that occurs in otherwise healthy young male athletes. It took a solid year for the autopsy results (due to a scandal in the coroner's office in Boston over a year ago), and despite the findings, there really isn't any consolation. She knew he did not do drugs or engage in any self-abuse. She is now processing the findings, which make it official, and close the door on other possibilities. Unlike your late DH, her BF did have high blood pressure and a strong family history of heart disease. However, he was an athlete in high school, college and beyond. He had just run a half-marathon in Disney. He was 28 and full of promise. DD says she will probably never find someone who loved her the way he did. I hate the expression "time heals"--hell no! Not when you endure this type of suffering. What you went through is forever woven into your (and your children's) being: an unforgettable, tragic event with long-term pain and suffering. I'm glad you poured out your story. Thank you for sharing it and for your thoughtful insights. "Tried to enjoy myself doubly....." Such words of wisdom from only one who has been there. I wish I could give you a big hug!...See More- 7 years ago
