Just gotta share! Night Dive at Sharks' Cove

Grandson, is ending his tour of duty in Hawaii, next month, and will be transferred for the remainder of his service to VA.
He lucked up with the greatest roommate, who calls me grandma as well :o) They will surely missed eachother.
This has been one of their hobbies: night diving. Parke enjoys scuba diving just like his dad.
These are from last night.

This is what I received: Seeds: Catnip, Sea Holly, Mixed Anemones, Pansy 'Black Prince', Poppy, 'Black Beauty', Broomcorn 'Sorghum', Pumpkin 'Baby Boo', Viola 'Frosted Chocolate', White 4 O Clocks, and Indian Corn. (I got hooked on Winter Sowing last year, so these will go into my seed bag for this coming years' sowing!) Bulbs: Allium Persian Blue, Pink Buttercups, Giant Daffodils 'King Edward', Iris Blue Magic, Mediterranean Bells, 'Queen of Night' Tulips, Lycoris, and a Garlic Bulb (to ward off Vampires, lol) Live plants: Some iris rhizomes and sweet potato. And for the sweet tooth, some Blood suckers (strawberry flavored) and a cute little pumpkin with Bubblegum inside. Thank You so much Sandy!! I still need to look some things up online, and learn a bit about them. It has been so dreary and rainy this week, but I think it should clear up on the week end, and then guess what I'll be doing!! Nancy, we did make it to Anderson's, after we'd already gone to Tony Packo's and then we found Packo's Express right inside the store! I got some mango/coconut tilapia there and Elery bought ground buffalo, I think we're going to try some buffalo burgers on the grill soon. Chase, luckily for me, Elery likes to do the "foodie" things as much as I do, so we were both happy. And now we're both on diets, LOL. SharonCB, the Ethiopian was very good, I've got to perfect the injera bread, other than that Elery and I agreed that we could do as well, although it would take time and lots of pots and pans to do 7 or 8 different dishes like we were served. Comments (53)I love scarves for dressing up an outfit. I wore them a lot in Europe as they are an extra layer...over the shoulders for the cathedral, over the head for a drizzle, around the neck if it's chilly, around the purse if it's hot... Below is a nice video for ideas about how to tie a scarf. However, I too am in the camp of no more turtlenecks...when I have a hot flash, it feels like strangulation. Scarves I can take off, but turtlenecks, I'm stuck. Such a shame as I have a zillion of them...I lived in them all winter when I was working...they look so great under a jacket, with or without a scarf, necklace or lapel pin... I have a couple of white shirts, but I have trouble finding them opaque enough, I never have them ironed so when I'm rushing to get dressed, I by pass them for something that doesn't need ironing, and with my coloring, the white is a washout on me so I have to add color besides. I also have to worry about length as I'm short...tunic shapes just cut me off. Then there's the boobage issue...button fronts can gape on me which also isn't fun. (I remember giving a talk one time, and the fellow in the front row was staring at my belly. I realized my shirt had gaped and he was seeing skin. At least it wasn't in the boob arena. Last time I did that! After that it was pullovers, button in the back, long scarves in front or camis underneath!) So for me, it's not a go to item, though I can see how it could be for someone else. Also, these days, I'm so into comfort that knits are by far my favorites...they move and stretch with me. When I wear wovens without any lycra in them, I feel like I'm fighting my clothes. I didn't try them, but was tempted....I was in walmart and see that Lee is making a super comfortable jean now out of very stretchy, very soft denim with almost a flannel like feel...a real cross between a legging and a jean...but they also had them boot cut. Comments (51)I am wrapping up 2 weeks on Oahu today - flying back home this afternoon. I stayed at a friends place in Ko'Olina (while they were on the mainland) on the west side near the Disney resort. Hanauma Bay for us last week was just okay. Not as good as when I was there 5 years ago. Someone else got it right when they said it's been loved to death, but it's still gorgeous. We got there by 7 am and got in free, as I don't think they were fully staffed yet - definitely go that early whether you get in free or not. The toilet bowl area is still closed. Fish action was decent but not great. Shark's Cove was great snorkeling but does not have a sandy beach - it's a skinny strip of rocks and the water is extremely shallow and rocky. You will want fins or water shoes. We ate at Roy's in Ko'Olina and it was very good with great service. The Hidden Honolulu bike tour was a lot of fun. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour and got a tour tailored to our interests. I personally would skip the beaches in Waikiki (unless you go to Ala Moana - gorgeous and less busy) and spend your time on North Shore or Windward beaches. Lanikai is wonderful. The Lagoons in Ko'Olina are so pretty and much tamer than the other beaches although they tend to get busy.One of my favorite things we did was go out on a tube boat thru Ko'Olina Ocean Adventures. (There are other companies that also offer this kind of trip.) The crew was stellar. We went to two fantastic snorkel spots and saw lots of ses life including turtles, and also saw dolphins, including several babies. We got to be in the water and watch from a distance as they swam by - we didn't swim with the dolphins, which is an activity I'm not in favor of. The boat captain also went pretty fast in order to kick up a wake for the dolphins to swim and leap in - that was also fun! I didnt get to Waimea but a local said not to swim in the falls as it has a dangerous bacteria or organism in them.that can make you sick. This same friend suggested seeing Waimea over Diamond Head if you are looking for a hike - it's prettier and lusher. If I think of anything else I'll add it....See More
