Which location should I pick for my warming drawer?
Comments (4)You're right about the location by the stove, door and table. That seems perfect! I don't think you'd use it near the ovens. Too out of the way, and unless you really need to put something else in the oven, at which point you're running around the whole kitchen, anyway, you can keep pots warm in the cooling ovens, plus, they probably have a keep warm setting as well. Warming drawer in the top drawer by the stove is a great place to accumulate crepes and pancakes, fried foods and wok dishes that are done in small amounts at a time, grilled sandwiches, etc. Warming drawer near the table is a great place to keep pots or serving dishes after the plates are made up so the second helpings are warm. It's also convenient for the straggler who arrives halfway through the meal, though that's less location dependent. Warming drawer by the back door is a great place to keep warm sides that are waiting to go to the outdoor table for the grilling to be done, or to hold the grilled food for eating inside while the rest of the meal is being put together. It's also great for keeping hotdogs or pizza or whatever warm food you're feeding muddy, wet, sticky flocks of kids outside in. You can hand them warm food out the door and keep the mess outside. Plus, you're not losing an extra deep drawer to the warming drawer. Just make sure that the standard depth drawer stack you're using is the full depth that the warming drawer requires, or is adaptable to your unit....See MoreWhich of these bad window treatments should I pick for patio door?
Comments (17)our vacation home faces full west out the back. for the kitchen i did a solar shade, its good enough as your eyes generally look down while prepping. for the dining room window next to the kitchen the solar shade wouldnt be enough to eat facing the window. did a plain old fashioned mini blind.. well, not that mini but not a wide one either. i have 4 sliders in that house and they all have vertical blinds, because thats the only thing that works if you actually get sun into rooms you want to be in, and have the slider function as well. we got rid of the old plastic clacky blinds for something more fabric but still quite light blocking. before i bought verticals again, i looked at real estate listings for that area to see what other homes did with their sliders. EVERY SINGLE ONE, bar none, including multi million dollar homes with everything updated, had vertical blinds on their sliders OR ELSE no treatment at all. which means they took down their verticals to sell the house. verticals were invented along with sliders. sadly the first ones were really pretty fugly, and people took to hating on them....See MoreWhich IKEA bath vanity color should I pick? High Gloss Gray vs. White
Comments (9)wow your choices are almost identical to mine. We also got the Godmorgon vanity (but in walnut) as we felt we were doing so much gray and white everywhere, we needed to warm it up with a different tone. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I'd probably pick gray over white, because the vanity top will be white as well. We have a very small bathroom and I don't feel the dark vanity really makes it feel claustrophobic!...See MoreWhich one should I pick?
Comments (12)I got death to the ground this past winter which occurred across the board, even to Quick Silver. The brutal plunges, two weeks apart, from 50°F. to below 0F. were to blame. Most roses came back with remarkable vigor, Quick Silver among them. It should be well above average winter hardiness for you being ADR. The longest basal cane length has been about 8'. Flower power is tremendous with abundant all season long output which for any climber is remarkable. Stiff canes, though, require a strong man approach when training. The individual blooms last incredibly long before petal drop. QS is a an overall exceptional rose. Scepter 'd Isle was wimpy in growth for me. No guts. Fast petal drop, smallish bloom, but blooms were lovely, and repeated very well...just a wimpy bush for me. I have no Austin's left in my garden after trialing quite a few. Have not gotten Olivia Rose, our Kristine's strong recommendation, hopefully soon. Moses...See More- 4 years ago
