Please Help! Need to Pick Trim Paint Color by 11am EST Today!!
Comments (13)annz - Thanks for your reply! Ideally I'd like more time to choose. I took Forever to pick the wall colors, and drove DH up a wall (I'm surprised we're still married - ha ha!). This is my way of sort of making it up to him, lol. Although Benjamin Moore has some no voc paints that we can get locally, we choose American Pride b/c it's supposed to be non toxic (we have a baby and are renovating the entire house - which we've yet to move into, so I'm trying to be as green and non toxic as possible). sueb20 - Thank you for your suggestions! Yes, I agree that we should paint the doors and trim the same color. (Thanks for setting me straight!) And, thank goodness that the ceiling doesn't need to match the trim exactly. Atrium White and Decorators White are very pretty, but the lighting in our home was not doing them justice. And so, the winner is - Simply White! It looks white, without any gray or blue tint to it. And I like how it has a touch of warmth - as most of our colors are warm, and we have a lot of northern light. It's not my favorite white for our one Beacon Gray bathroom, but it will still look nice. As for the bedroom that will have Mascarpone on the bottom - I'm still a little concerned there b/c Simply White is very close in color and doesn't "pop" like a cooler white would, but hopefully the semi gloss sheen will help with the contrast a bit. We'll see... Overall though, I think Simply White will work really great in our home, and I'm excited to see everything painted! Thank you all again for your replies! You're the best!! :)...See MoreVanity vs. Pedestal Sink for Half-Bath?
Comments (60)Yes, I wish I had a little alcove space in my half-bath like Bob's to cradle a sink like that. I also wish the arrangement of my room was like all the powder rooms pictured above, walking in FACING the fixtures. Instead, you walk in facing a window, and the sink is to the immediate right, and the toilet is on the same wall to the left of the sink. You lose a lot of the beauty of the fixtures that way. I love looking straight into the room to see the sink right there. As we've seen from all the pics posted here, a sink and faucet are not merely utilitarian fixtures. They can serve as striking sculpture! (Ditto the toilet actually! There are some beautiful ones out there now!). I'll try to make the best of the configuration I have. (If someone will get their caboose over here to help me with my project!)...See MoreIkea vanity - Godmorgon with non-Ikea sink
Comments (30)@Shelly Mac - I figured that you probably just were busy with “life” when you returned home - I didn’t want to bother you again re: measuring the space. I actually haven’t figured that part out yet! I do have the Godmorgon vanity in a box in my garage. I figured that I’d order two different sinks - and keep my fingers crossed that one of them worked! If you still have the measurement - I’d love if you’d post it. If not, I’ll figure it out eventually. After all, your linked directions had been more help than I would have expected to find! I think that I’m “over thinking” this whole process! My contractor is great - and I’m sure that he will know how to support the countertop. I just have a difficult time giving up “control“ in general. To be honest, I think he’s probably a bit “frustrated“ because of my micromanaging! He hasn‘t said anything (or acted as if he is) - but I think he’s used to receiving information regarding the general desired look - and then having quite a bit of flexibility with the design. In fact, that’s part of the reason my friend recommended him - she basically gave him a inspiration photo - and let him run with renovating her bathroom. It turned out very nice. But that’s not me - especially not after spending quite a bit of time reading through posts on Houzz! There are times I kinda wish I hadn‘t found Houzz - I never would have had to spend so much time selecting white ceiling/trim paint! FYI - looking at the photo of your master bathroom vanity, makes me wish I would have combined a few of the Godmorgon vanities to use in my master bathroom. I REALLY like the look of the the thicker countertop because of the mitered edge. It really makes a lot of sense to take the $$ saved by using the Godmorgon cabinets + custom doors vs. an entire custom made floating vanity - and use it towards a really nice looking (thick) countertop!...See MoreUnfinished Vs Waypoint Vs Ikea Small budget help please?
Comments (56)The weird part of the layout is the bump out where our daughter's closet is, by the stove. Husband isn't keen on taking that out, so for now it would be a work around. If the one wall comes out (where the "doors" are on the top wall), it will extend that part of the kitchen back out another 3.5-4' by 11'. (the rooms are currently offset, which I couldn't figure out how to show w/the planner so I just went ahead and made it so that wall was eliminated, making the dining area larger. Otherwise it would be like this, and not have a peninsula. There's nothing else I can think that could be changed to do w/the layout and traffic, so if you guys see something, feel free to point it out! The door on the left is the basement, that can't go anywhere, and the door on the right is an open doorway that goes to the living room, so that can't go anywhere. The door on the bottom wall is the patio door to the outside....See MoreWestCoast Hopeful
