I have a young q. ruba and a young q. macrocarpa that sustained significant hail damage and as a result put out a second flush of growth. I'm a fan of this as the two trees are basically putting on two season's worth of growth in one season. I'm especially excited for the bur as it grows at a glacial pace.

This is hair-brained, but what if I were to intentionally cause mechanical damage to the leaves each year in order to coax a second flush of growth? What could potentially go wrong? lol
