Kitchen facelift. Need help with backsplash.
Comments (28)Sure thing! It's a GE Profile range model JS968SKSS. It's about 20 months old and they don't make that model any more. IIRC retail on it was $1800 but believe it or not I bought it used off of Craigslist for $950 from a couple that was remodeling and converting to gas. It's in near new condition and was a great steal. I even had a professional mover pick it up for me and deliver it for $100. The new model is PS968SPSS with a retail of $2200.There is also the PS905SPSS which looks the same but has some different/less features for $1800. Had I not found the used oven I probably would of bought a Frigidaire Galley model FGES3065KF for $1600 at Lowe's. It looks very similar to the GE models and has all the same features (both are also convection) as the more expensive one if I remember except for the bridge burner. The Frigidaire also has a neat rack system. There is a huge price markup for ranges with front controls. A comparable Frigidaire (or even GE) range but with rear controls was about half price so I was having a hard time justifying the cost (I really hate rear controls and reaching over hot/boiling pots) so finding the used GE range made it a no brainer decision for me. I've only had it for a couple of months now and it's been great. The burners heat up FAST and the glass top is so easy to clean. The only downside is that the black top shows dust really easy. Good luck let me know you decide!...See MoreDoing a Kitchen "Facelift" Not Remodel But Need Help
Comments (38)Sketch of new kitchen. Will be getting Executive Cabinetry in a flat slab door in white. Will post the backsplash I picked out. Still deciding about countertops. Doing Caesarstone and was going to do one of the lighter concretes but have read about lots of issues with the honed/matte finishes. Am going to try to get to local showroom this week so I can see slabs vs small samples. Still need to pick sink, faucet and hardware. Ordering new combo oven, cooktop and hood. Excited!!!...See MoreHelp! Family Room/Entertainment Room Facelift Needed
Comments (5)that is a lot, lot of wood! It's nice, but it's just a lot. would you consider painting the window/door trim and the baseboards in white? it really would look so nice, especially w/the pine ceiling and the oak floor. here is a before/after here's a wood ceiling and floor w/white window trim so you can see another pic w/your pine ceiling next to white trim (ignore the coffered ceiling beams) If you'd like to put in a few beams, do them white: (notice white trim again!) I'd have the floors stained in a walnut shade. Oak is beautiful in that coloring and if it's red oak, it will hide the natural pink tone. this tone. If you need to put in shelving, consider something like this w/a black background. notice the white trim/baseboards. actually, if you will be doing flooring, consider removing the existing smaller wood baseboards and replacing them w/the taller white ones, like in this pic above and the one showing the wood floor, above. As for ceiling fan, since you don't need the light, pick something in a sleeker type of fan blade, less bulky than what you have.for the storage issue, I don't know what the budget is, or do you have DIY skills? plenty of built-in type of cabinets you could do. Even doing an Ikea hack w/the Billy Book cases would be an option. pine ceiling and walnut stained oak floors, white trim and baseboards. gives you an idea for your space. nice fan too or, if you had thoughts on painting the ceiling...See MoreNeed to give this house an exterior facelift
Comments (34)The birch was allowed to grow past young age with a horrible structure, especially for its placement directly in line with the house center. Were it mine, I'd either want it to reform, in spite of the fact that it would need to go through an awkward period, or I'd want it gone. It is the bottom limbs branching off at 4' above the ground that looks so bad. I'd remove the two lowest every year until it was reformed....See More- 4 years ago
