Wondering if the fruit imparts a flavor as well?

I recall an anecdote from a science teacher about how in an experiment, people were universally turned off by food colored blue. Of course that was many decades ago, before blue snacks, candy and drinks aimed at kids became so popular. You think they knew they couldn't get adults to change, so targeted kids to create a generation liking blue coloring?

And BTW, purple sweet potatoes make foods bright purple. I made sweet potato biscuits with them - once.

Well, given that real true blue in nature is a sign that something is poisonous, it's not a color I would normally go for, although a local bakery here used to make a wonderful three-colored ice cream for the 4th of July with layers of raspberry, vanilla, and blueberry, and the blueberry was a nice pale clear blue.

I don't know. That particular bread recipe also includes lavender, FWIW.

Gorgeous color, thank you. I can get it in liquid form and keep it in the freezer indefinitely. Should be much easier to work with. Mine came out great using daikon and Israeli couscous and blue radish flowers.

As blue food goes, that bread is rather attractive. :) I'd bet that the fruit does impart some flavor. According to what I read, it's rather tart and generally used to make drinks. It's also used for temporary tattoos.

As purple food goes, those sweet potato biscuits look fantastic! I'd eat one. I'd probably expect it to taste like grapes though. ;^)

i made blue berry popovers with blue berry juice in batter. it looked great.

if want the blue color but not flavor from many blue fruits you need to put the fruit in blender then separate the color in centrifuge.
