Decorating living room

Hi,

I need help with designing my living room. It has high ceiling and stone wall as focal point. But walls are empty and there is no artwork. Walls are light beige and sofa and blinds are light gray in color. Any design ideas are much appreciated. Thanks!

The first thing I would do is pull the furniture away from the walls and get it arranged facing the fireplace. Then get a super large piece of art for the fireplace wall. Something dramatic! If you give me the measurements for your room, I can play with some ideas.

Something large with possible companion piece over the other side of room. Have to be careful of distracting from the main focal point which is the stone fireplace wall.

Also, remove all the small accents, they are not proper scale and make things look cluttered. You will need a large vase for the front of hearth to help bring the end down somewhat from the height of the ceiling for balance.

My advice would be to go on Houzz and start some idea books to figure what your style is . Right now all you will get is dozens of ideas that will keep you more confused than ever. We need info to help with this.

I would move the desk to face entry with some art above. Sofa in front of window with 2 chairs across from it, a coffee table between. Facing the fp, if you wanted add’l seating you can look for an upholstered bench which will keep things feeling open when you walk in. Flank the fp with 2 consoles or small chests if you need storage. Place lamps around the room for lots of ambient light

is there two love seats and 1 sofa? Room measurements would help. I'd put the TV where that arch mirror is leaning. Center the rug on the fireplace. Change out the ceiling fan.light kit. what is the area on the left a doorway into what room? I'd put the sofa on the inside wall... closer to the fireplace to you can walk around the entire seating area . ( sofa and a love seat facing each other ) a credenza along that wall with a nice lamp, vase, ... your room has alot of opportunity for layering.

Hi. You have a nice family room with a lot of potential! Angled fireplaces can be very challenging.

Here is what I recommend:

1) Get the furniture arranged the way that is best. What seating do you need? Do you need 2 sofas? Is there a tv in the space?

2) I recommend bring in more round lines to offset the odd angles. A round rug and a round and/or irregularly shaped coffee table. This would also repeat the round arched window.

3) Remove the random decor on the fireplace. I recommend no art or something very simple over the mantle.

4) Remove all of the pillows on the sofa. You need a few pillows with texture and some color if you want.

Could you please:

1) Provide photos that enlarge.

2) Provided photos of the other walls of the room

3) Tell us what the purpose/function of the room is.
