Furniture Design Dilemma living room

Help Needed to Decorate Living Room & Layout

How would you layout living room furniture in this small space? Not sure if we should do couch on window wall opposite 2 chairs or 2 chairs facing the fireplace w opposite 2 chairs on sides of the fireplace. We plan to remove the TV from above the fireplace and make this a cozy conversation space. We'd like to keep the antique desk in the corner that you can see in the first photo. Also considering coffee table (not sure if it will be too tight) and need side tables. Also attached are some pieces we found that we're considering..

Thanks for you feedback jck910. We're concerned about the sofa blocking entry from the front door, both physically and visually. And yes the new sofa is smaller (72") to fit the scale of the room.

I would move the desk to face entry with some art above. Sofa in front of window with 2 chairs across from it, a coffee table between. Facing the fp, if you wanted add’l seating you can look for an upholstered bench which will keep things feeling open when you walk in. Flank the fp with 2 consoles or small chests if you need storage. Place lamps around the room for lots of ambient light

Well...at 17'X 14' you don't have much room for built-in like this on a side wall. They will take approximately 2' in depth, plus another 6" minimum for a window jamb. It doesn't look like your floor plan incorporates a 2'-6" jamb on either wall, so some change will be needed to the builder's plan to make this possible. Be sure to check and verify your furniture layout will fit the available space after the built-in. Good luck!

The media cabinet is too large for your room and there are too many colors for your home that don't seem to correlate. No purple in the living area. I have lowered your TV and suggested a floating wall hung cabinet. Pull all your furnishings away from the wall a bit to the room can breath.

I would move the sofa off that wall and make the long end of the sectional be parallel with the kitchen peninsula, so the sofa faces the sliders on the long side. I would get a rectangular dining table to go in between the living room area and the dining kitchen area. The wall with the high windows could use a bookcase, or a console table, a lamp and some colorful art. Some large plants would be good too. You have great light and need some more contrast in your color scheme. See about a stronger color rug and throw pillows if you can. It's a lovely room.

@ Rachel H We've created a layout for you with approximate dimensions from the pictures. So many options for colors that would work with those cushions and that rug! Warm tones of coral/ rust or even mustard would brighten up the room. Once you choose the colors on your chair you could add pillows that reflect those colors. You could place a couple of ottomans that can be moved around wherever required. As @My House says, you could add a slim console table and art/ Mirrours to the long wall by the door and create a nice looking entryway! We have made you another layout here. You can add or replace furniture and move them around to create your own layouts in interactive 3D designs here and also render your own photorealistic images here!

I like this idea adalisa frazzini. How much space behind chairs is common, or required, for optimal pass by/flow? The chairs we're looking at are about 30" x 30" so I wonder if we'll have enough space.
