Playing Music to your Tomato Seedlings =)
Comments (19)Because I think I had read somewhere that a good companion plant for tomato plants may be tulips, I had in the past (just once) tried serenading them with Tiny Tim's rendition of "Tiptoe Through The Tulips." This did seem to promote the development of rather robust tomato seedlings. However, for some reason, the seed saved from the fruits of these plants exhibited crossing to such an extent that I did not again employ this method, let alone use the above ditty. Comments (23)In my CD changer I have Pat Benetar's In the Heat of the Night album (only one I really loved), AC/DC 1978 Powerage, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, and two Eva Cassidy CDs... Songbird and another I didn't note the title. Jamie Johnson was the last CD I purchased... every thing from brilliant to stupid. Marshall Tucker Band's Can't You See was the last song played on my computer. Upgraded my computer's sound with a high powered sound card and expensive speakers. I probably should hook up to my house stereo as Youtube is getting to be a primary source of music for me. Youtube has an amazing selection... and cute kitty videos (watch while supper burns). Just went to fill my coffee and there was Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge CDs laying on the counter. On a Pink Floyd kick in general... hmmm what can I cook that would go good with the C-numb solos?... can't seem to put my finger on it. Who is shouting "brownies"? : ) lyra...See MoreMusic
Comments (36)I go through phases. Anything from Indian folk music like the Bauls of Bengal to Jacqueline du Pre cello concertos, meditative and laid back modern jazz to the English Church music of Purcell and Taverner; the 60s British pop groups I grew up with which are still a 'guilty pleasure' to reminisce with on YouTube, to less successful attempts to appreciate hip-hop and then heavy metal while my son was growing up; great songwriters like Dylan and Leonard Cohen to Irving Berlin and Cole Porter to Chuck Berry and Hank Williams... but... I have an album somewhere of old style Delta Blues. Mostly just one man or one woman singing and playing a cheap old gut string guitar in a rocking chair out on a back porch somewhere (or so I imagine!) recording their masterpieces directly into an old style reel to reel tape recorder. Sophisticated production nil; inventiveness and spontaneity, honesty and heart 1000%. These wonderful old musicians can always makes me smile, or cry with them. It's my favourite album. Oh, and the Beatles of course... Unclassifiable; still amazing, intriguing, inspiring and delighting me after all these years. I also very much appreciate silence, only broken by the sound of waves, wind in the trees, rain and birdsong... the best music of all....See MoreMusic that helps you...
Comments (58)oh there are lots of different things I like. I can have periods I'm really into somethiing/somebody and listen and listen only to them. or I can be in kinda silence mode. I do love rhythm and associate music with road trips a lot. but depends of course. what mood am I and all Dire Straits, Queen, Rolling Stones...The Cure..I did love Beatles a lot. Simon and Garfunkel. Kate Bush have favorite Hebrew singers, French( older songs by Mylene Farmer (latest albums I don't listen to already, too techno for me, with some exceptions), some by Serge Gainsbourg....Charlotte Gainsbourg as well..Chat..Zaz..), Russian..(prefer singers-songwriters but some bands too, especially the ones I listened too when being a teenager..some of them still perform) I can have nostalgic evenings when I listen exclusively to Hebrew for example. can be contemporary or psalms..depends on what mood I am in. It appears I love country . I love ballads, folk, indie folk. Lately listen to it a lot, both very gloomy and more upbeat. I like gloomy a bit scary and maybe a bit weird. And I love songs with a a feeling of anthem to them. some desperate hopeful glory. It's very life-like if they're good.. I love great lyrics..I love Anaïs Mitchell for example. A lot. Together with that I have a special dancing list, can be something very old like 30s or 40s, or can be 80's or 90's or now. And these are very happy:) Well at least melodies are..words don't have to be lol. I love kids' songs too:) Like, even toddlers' songs:) We can sing them with our kids on the road trip too. Even though my kids are pretty big. It's just a cool feeling. I'm not very musical-I remember plenty songs by heart and feel the melody but can't really sing it right..I'm not talented in it at all, so it's not like I understand in genres very well. I just start being into something, and it either holds for many many years, or for several only. My father was very musical though and my brother is, and kids are too..(the gene is kinda lost on me only lol)..some friends are very very much into music as well..so I'm influenced of course, or I can just stumble onto something and get hooked. (this forum I never even knew existed until last week or so)...See MoreAdella Bedella
