Plant a tree in same spot where one died?

After several years of planting I have plenty of fruit trees. Now my major planting activity is replacing trees that have died or are doing poorly. None of the locations are ones that are problematic like too wet or dry.

Is there any reason not to plant a replacement in the hole where a previous one was removed? I mulch my trees so a planted location is nicely prepared for a new tree and only needs a bit of soil to backfill around the bare roots of a new planting after the old one is removed.

Trees are apple, cherry, plum, pear, and apricot. Typically a replacement would be the same type of tree but could also be something else.

Thx to anyone taking the time to respond.
