I harvested the seed from the pods and soaked them in water overnight. I then took one of the plastic boxes that lettuce comes in at the grocer, put some potting soil in it, wet it, covered the seeds with about 1/2 inch of soil, covered the lid and put it in a bright window. The sprouted fairly quickly and are now about 3 inches tall. Has taken several months. Getting ready to transplant them into larger pots in a couple of weeks.

Update on this, they I put four of the seedlings in each 4 in pot and they are growing well. This year, I took dykia seeds from my "Cherry Cola" and am now trying to do the same with them. Hoping that I have the same success.

Another wonderful desert plant that I use in many landscapes here in the Boise Idaho area --- zones 5 - 7. It is a hummingbird plant and the clumps can get quite large. Does not like the clayish soils in part of the valley, but you can add lava fines or coarse sand to loosen the soil. One of my favorites, and a favorite plant of our 6 - 7 hummingbird species.
