Paint Design Dilemma Bedroom

East Facing Bedroom - Wall Colour Help please

Hello.

i have an east facing bedroom in desperate need of-a face Lift. I have tried over 10 samples and they all read green in my room. Some things I have tried are BM White linen, Sw Dover white, etc, etc.

Everything reads too yellow-green and depressing.

as a side note the famous CC-40 BM Cloud White reads green in my room.

i am at my wits end.

I am open to suggestions.

I would love a light colour, a neutral light true cream, with no yellow or green undertones. I haven’t tried a very light blue but wondering if it might work.

Trims are white. not worried about coordination, just how it reads in the light.

trying to stay away from true beiges and taupes, looking for something modern, clean and light. An airy feeling.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

I have BM Swiss Coffee in my east facing living room with large trees outside the windows.

The Swiss Coffee reads as a soft off white, no green undertones. Sometimes walls pick up color from your carpeting or flooring...could that be an issue in your room?

I had a similar problem in my east facing living room. Everything I tried had sickly green undertone. (And I actually love green, but not like that)

I ended up going with Benjamin Moore Sea Pearl. It's been almost ten years and I still love it.

It was a close call between that and Done Wing, but the Sea Pearl felt cleaner.

I also remember liking Edgecome Gray, but it was too close in depth to our carpet a t the time.

I also had the same issue in our master bath, and ended up using Etiquette from the aura colors. Little darker than the sea pearl and perfect with our tile and cabinet. Might be worth looking at as well.

I think you're on the right track with a pale yellow, but I have a feeling that the bright accent colors will look better with a cleaner wall color, like maybe Jersey Cream or Full Moon. Ivoire is toned/grayed down and it may look muddy with lime, turquoise, etc. I also worry about potentially muddy colors looking even more so in north facing rooms. I like to keep colors clear and clean in north light. My DD wanted a deep blue room and we went with a BM Historic color, also somewhat toned down, not a clear blue. Instead of the off white and toned down gold I thought we'd be using, she opted for lime green. I think a cleaner blue would have been better for that accent. Luckily, she doesn't give a hoot about those kinds of subtleties and I only go into her room under duress. :-) If you have a Ben Moore dealer near you, take a look at Ambiance. It is a pale yellow with just a touch of pink in it. I used it in my north-facing laundry room and it is very subtle and pleasant. I think it would work well as a backdrop for your daughter's brights...will let them take the stage.

For my daughter’s room (which faces north east) we plan on painting it BM slip. The room across the hall (facing south west, I suppose), I wanted to do in BM Beach Glass. I painted a sample board. It’s a beautiful color, just worried it will be too dark in this room. Am also thinking about BM Silken Pine or BM Healing Aloe. The room next to my daughter’s room (further north than east) will be my son’s room. Sapele bunk bed, navy sheets. Am thinking BM edgecomb gray (LRV 63) or gray owl (LRV 67), though I’ve read that gray owl can be a minty green in certain lighting. The problem is little lighting as there is only one window. The hallway will be BM Wickham Gray. This is the one color that will stay as is because it works with the great room and the main foyer. Any thoughts / suggestions?

I dont like the idea of a wall to wall shelf or any other shelf over a bed. I have visions of something coming down and landing on the occupant or occupants of that bed. I do like the color and sconces etc, in the post above by Laura. It looks great. I also would want draperies on the window. The rods should be moved out a bit, so it looks wider and put the draperies on and pull to the sides, so the window itself is open. Paint one wall white and then view it for a day or two in all lights and see just how it works in your room.

Hi, yes! After sampling BM Par Four 470, Woodlawn Blue, and Healing Aloe; and SW Windowpane and Rainwashed; I opted for BM Healing Aloe. The painters got it on the walls today and it is very pretty. The green is more subdued and silvery in the cool light, but still shows up, which is what I wanted. The other colors I tried were very pretty, but I wasn't feeling the more saturated blue-greens Woodlawn and Rainwashed). Par Four was a great contender, but too similar to the old color on our walls. SW Windowpane was sooo close. I'd like to try it elsewhere but felt like the subtle green in Healing Aloe would feel "warmer" than the blue in winter. Windowpane is beautiful though. What is your bedding that is where I usually choose wall color in a bedroom.What is your lighting , are there trees outside the window . You want a modern feel change the light bulbs to 4000K and then choose wall color.

If you have a lot of trees outside the windows, you'll get a green cast to the light in the room. Take a look outside to see what's what. If branches have overgrown the window area, you can decide if you want to prune them back.

my bedroom faces east and i have BM edgecomb gray. It might be a little too taupey for you but it's a nice neutral that can work with a lot of colors (i have navy and gray bedding). I had BM Devon Cream in my previous house and that was a very pretty cream color that instantly brightened up the room.

My rooms face southeast. I’m getting ready to paint, but have chosen BM China White. I’m doing a blue ceiling, but it would be pretty on the walls too. The blue is actually called Lily White by BM.
