What Color for A North Facing Bedroom? Warm Colors?
Comments (4)We must be rule breakers! LOL! Our master bedroom faces north and is painted in the cool-calm-and-comfortable Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware -- with bright white trim. Love this color -- and it goes with so many other colors including black and white decorative accents! The furniture is deep walnut but there is both silver and gold accessories and accents around the room. The adjoining bathroom is painted in bright white with dark sage green towels. You could simply add a touch of warmth in your bedding colors -- perhaps a red or orange. Or add color with warm colors in the artworks. Hope this helps! It is a photo of our bed -- with its winter bedding. In the summer we use Ralph Lauren's "Sussex Gardens" comforter and shams (with a peachy background and florals) with a leaf-green or very old soft orange-peach satin comforter folded at the bottom of the bed....See MorePaint question for North Facing Bedroom vaulted ceilings
Comments (6)Here are pics of why I need to change the color. I took these around 10 am in the morning on a sunny day .Hard to capture cathedral ceilings but was trying to show my dilemma with dark corners and that the color brightens in some areas but not others. I took pics with no flash. The sun rays were coming in with the one pic where it looks cloudy but it really doesn't affect much lighting wise. Click on each pic to open to full pic. The first one is leading into my master bathroom which is bright and is a south facing bathroom with pocket sliding doors....See MoreHelp! Need to pick paint colors for north facing bedrooms.
Comments (12)For my daughter’s room (which faces north east) we plan on painting it BM slip. The room across the hall (facing south west, I suppose), I wanted to do in BM Beach Glass. I painted a sample board. It’s a beautiful color, just worried it will be too dark in this room. Am also thinking about BM Silken Pine or BM Healing Aloe. The room next to my daughter’s room (further north than east) will be my son’s room. Sapele bunk bed, navy sheets. Am thinking BM edgecomb gray (LRV 63) or gray owl (LRV 67), though I’ve read that gray owl can be a minty green in certain lighting. The problem is little lighting as there is only one window. The hallway will be BM Wickham Gray. This is the one color that will stay as is because it works with the great room and the main foyer. Any thoughts / suggestions?...See Moredesign help small master bedroom
Comments (28)Artwork should be about 2/3 width of bed; queen bed is 60 inches so go for something around 40 inches wide? Can be one or two pictures, but one big pic is generally easier to hang etc. Target, Ross, World Market, TJ Maxx all have nice big art that might work....just look for cream not ultra white in the art; and if it makes your hear sing, go for it......any type would probably work in the room....the corners will get taken are of. Get the bed and nightstands in place and curtains hung, (check out Houzz.com or youtube to see how and where to hang curtains before you go shopping so you have an idea of what is what) This room has oil rubbed bronze curtains with long curtains, check for your room, large print over the bed, check, lamps are taller than headboard, which is a look you want, check and you could do lamps in your chosen accent color, cream, silver, brass. first and see if you like it; one decision generally means you might have two options or none for the next decision....the curtains will frame the room and soften the window angles and if the curtain color is similar to headboard it will give the room a more cohesive look; you want items to look like they go together....even when not a perfect match; avoid perfect match, rather blend is better I think. Here is another room.....large dark curtain rod, curtains hung behind bed and nightstand as an example. Quirky corner decor and corner windows with interesting curtain placement......lamps same height as headboard counting finials! Nicely made bed that relates to wall color; an idea you might consider if you cannot find curtains to match head board....a lot of cool ideas in room you might want to consider.....love the tiny chair in front of the plant stand..... PS I went to more info for this picture and it seemed that the client had the sheets already and matched/blended the paint color to the sheets.....so another custom look for little investment.....fun room with quirky corner! Good luck....See MoreMila Rose
