Smartstrand Sorona with Fleck recommendations
Comments (8)We looked at SS Silk fleck style Serene Selection for part of our house. It was a little looser than a plush, but not a frieze. While we ultimately chose the solid style Cozy Comfort, Serene was lovely. Dealer also showed us some similar SS flecks and solids that were not Silk, but were still quite soft and a bit more affordable. Since we were just doing one room, we opted for the Silk, but had we been doing more footage, we might have gone the other way. Appearance was very similar. For what it is worth, my experience is that flecks do hide footprints and dirt better....See MoreWhile you're at it, your 2 cents on new drapes
Comments (129)Ah - but you excel in those areas. Just remember that if you stumble across a fabric that fits your needs it can be crafted into a duvet, coverlet or even a full bedspread. While king size sheets are the easiest due to their overall size even regular cloth cut from a bolt of fabric can be used. We had a quilted coverlet made from a Schumacher fabric based on a historic pattern from the Stencil House at the Shelbourne Museum. The coverlet was sewn with 3 layers - the top layer was the stencil pattern, then a layer of batting and the bottom was a solid that complemented the background color of the stencil. The entire coverlet was then machine quilted outlining the rose and leaf design of the fabric. Since I think you're looking for a solid color duvet 'm sure you'll find exactly the right bed covering without having to resort to having one mad. But it can be done if necessary....See MorePlease help- carpet
Comments (3)I just went through the same decision. I chose a short freize because it hides footprints well - I like the loop carpet but it can snag if you have pets. But will have to say the freize I saw was more of the beige family....See Morehow do people live with beige carpet and general carpet advice
Comments (46)Eleven years ago I replaced the cheap beige carpet in our house with beautiful Karastan wall-to-wall beige carpet. We have a lot of kids and back in 2004 we still had toddlers. I don't regret the carpets, at that point it was hard to know what type of hardwood to put down on a concrete slab, it seems that engineered hardwoods were an emerging product and solid hardwood planks were not recommended for slab foundations. There were moisture transfer issues that seemed to make hardwood floors a risky proposition back then. Our carpet looks exactly like the close-up sample that AuntJen posted. It looked to me like beautiful sand, the quality is excellent. We paid a fair sum of money for it in part because it did not off-gas, and we installed rubber padding (instead of the compressed foam) which helped prevent goat trails. Now we have a dog who occassionally barfs. So our carpet is stained. And worn out. Having a Dyson vacuum had made all the difference in keeping it looking good when we vacuumed daily, our carpet looked fabulous. Wish we had a Roomba. It's a frieze and I love it. I'd love hardwood floor more, but do not regret the carpeting. My kids played on the floor until five years ago, and the carpet kept the house a little quieter and allowed them to lay on the floor and play anywhere. I certainly miss those days....See More- 4 years ago
