Need help...don't know where to start!
Comments (5)I love your antique trunk - that will certainly help set a country/cottage mood. It's really useful too, since it can be a coffee table or a media stand, or a side table. Also interesting that your sofa back is sort of a reverse Camel back. If it works, I'd like to see the sofa on the wall without windows, so that the straight line of the window sill does not compete with the reverse curve. Your rug is pretty and colors are a close match to sofa, but it is rather small. Would it work in your entry way instead? Remember to make your bench cushion 4-5 inches thick. Right now the only pattern that you have is from the afghans. It will be easier to furnish the room after you introduce a pattern or two. I'd probably start with patterned draperies, because they'll have a big effect. Then you can either choose a subdued rug or layer more pattern. Same with the upholstery for your chairs. I love quilts on the wall, but I think your afghan would probably stretch out too much, so I'd continue to use them as throws instead. As others have suggested, take it slowly - you'll have a better result, and hopefully it's more enjoyable too....See MoreHelp please! Beginner and don't know where to start :/
Comments (35)Wow thanks! I'll google all those. Haha I have a full sun line that I think I can fit things in because it's pretty spaced (pic attached) then the front gets maybe an hour or two of sun max. Then the random island thing my front tree is on where half gets probably 6 hours and the other half none. Then the ground cover would probably be awesome for the back!!! I planted creeping myrtle and bellflower(?) but again pretty spaced out (hence budget :/ ). I can come whenever you are free and I'll bring the delphinium! Thanks!!!!...See MoreLandscaping Ideas? Comments (2)The first things to think about are: Views --- do you want your windows screened for privacy, or to not block a view? Maintenance --- how much time do you want to spend maintaining your garden? Shade --- do you need more of it or not? Use --- will you want your kids to play in the front lawn, a sitting area/vegetable garden etc? Areas that need hiding? Next, walk/drive around your neighborhood and notice houses that have nice landscaping. Note the features. I would start with a lovely tree off to the right in the front yard. A modern look might be a clump of birch. If it were my house, I'd put in a fruit tree with pretty flowers, like a Peach. I'd put a bed of smallish flowering shrubs to the right of the curved path to the door. I don't know zone 8, so I can't offer many recommendations. I might put a climbing rose up one of the columns...See MoreSplit Level With Flat Roof Lines, HELP don't know where to start!
Comments (7)I don't think board and batten is the right style siding for your home. You've got too much going on with all the roof lines and uneven facade. What you've mocked up is appropriate and uniform, making the house look more uniform than it actually is. I love the mock up you did and I think the windows are appropriate for the style home. I wouldn't do a bow window, but a regular one. Bow windows are dated. I like your color scheme, but fear it won't look great with the brown roof. If the roof will need to be replaced anytime soon, then go for it. If not, you may want to look at other color options with a brown roof. A deep blue gray could look nice. This could be helpful in picking a color. https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/how-to-pick-exterior-paint-colours-in-5-easy-steps/...See Moredecoenthusiaste
