If you check around, your local regular grocery store may also have candied ginger way cheaper than it is in the the spice aisle. Publix, for instance, usually has it in the international aisle, with the candied fruit for baking (can be seasonal), and with the bags of dried fruit, jordan almonds, etc in the produce department.

But the TJ's price is still good. I just thought I would mention the other places for those without TJ access who don't normally see anything but the outrageous Spice Islands version in their grocery store.

Bragu, while I was at TJ's today, I picked up *two* of the chili like seasoning!

@Wrtiersblock, we don't have a Publix here, and the other grocery stores only have the Spice Islands ginger. Seasonally, like for the Nov-Dec baking stuff, I haven't seen any ginger other than Spice Islands on the special displays. But wait! I have loads from today's shopping! Hooray!

As much as we love candied ginger, I find the stuff at TJ’s too hot. It was sourced in China, not certain about the current batch. Penseys has really nice ginger. It’s pricy but worth it!

If you can ever find Buderim ginger from Australia, buy it!!

Sorry, Sooz. I just meant that ginger in a supermarket can be in weird places you wouldn't expect, especially with current shelf theory. For those who don't have TJ's, an oriental market is another good place to try, or I've seen crystallized ginger at some of the Asian veggie stalls at green markets.

You could use some of that ginger in gingerbread.
