"Yook ee oh", or "Yoo gee oh" in Korea, which translates to "Six twenty-five" is very like "Nine eleven" here. They count their months by numbers, so "six" is June, and "June twenty five" is recognized by all as a date of a terrible experience for them. The Korean War started on the twenty fifth of June, 1950 - seventy years ago today. I was in university at the time, and wondered whether I should join the forces, as neither grandfather, dad or I had been in the forces in either of the world wars. World War II had been a big deal but the Korean issue a much smaller one ... and I was busy in university. Some leftist supporters said that South Korea had started it. If there's anything that devotees of an ideology, religious or political system can't stand, it's to have hearers of their story make fun of it. When they made their claim that South Korea had started it and many hearers said, "Oh, right - South Korea started it ... and within two days they lost both their capital city of Seoul and their military headuarters?!?! Go peddle that story somewhere else ... 'cause it ain"t got no traction here! A lot of their leaders would very likely have got shot had it happened that way!" That really got them upset! ole joyful

I did learn how to open pickles. Take a church key type can opener and use the rounded end gently pry up on the edges of the lid...keep going around and around with a gentle pry and all of a sudden you'll hear the pfff which is the vacuum seal releasing. Then the lid will come off easily.

Salvador Dali had a painting and it had melting clocks in it. The melting clocks symbolize time being different and more fluid in when you are dreaming. I think this is what a joke is alluding to., Perhaps the woman is saying that there is not a lot of reality going on and opening the curtains and seeing a Salvador dali like picture is tantamount to saying that things are very unreal right now. I am guessing and could be completely wrong. :-).

One of our Westies, Pip, would run growling from the small TV on a cabinet to the one a foot off the floor in another room when we needed protection from something on the screen. (We needed protection from horses and men with beards.)
