What do you think of 2x4 back splash tile?
Comments (15)The red diamonds in my backsplash are glass and I really like the effect. The other tiles are a bit off-white, and I think they match the cabs, I've never noticed. lol I have orb for some of the hardwared, and ruby colored pulls and knobs on the hutch which is in the kitchen. I also have an orb faucet whith white sink. White appliances. The appliances are whiter than the cabs, but its not noticeable. As far as the granite. That's a hard one to answer. Take every single thing off the countertop and I love my granite. But that color of granite is so hard to accesorize with it's driving me crazy! However, I recently discovered pale yellow, white, and light vintage green looks wonderful on the granite. My walls are a very pale yellow. Black accessories are good too, but I want more pastels in my kitchen. It only took me three years to figure out that pastels really look best with the granite and white cabs!...See MorePlease - need advice re. height of faucet and splashing
Comments (27)I'll try to figure out exactly what I've got today. Something else to consider if wooden countertops are in the idea bucket - - when your hands are wet, you'll transfer moisture to the handles (if any) and the countertop area unless you dry your hands before touching the handles. That'll be a habit everyone in your house will need to possibly do. I used to have butcher block countertops in some places. They were not very forgiving and, once, the wood did catch fire in a freak accident. My old faucet did have a pull out sprayer. The part on it that wore out first (at not an old age) was the button controls that had a rubber-like substrate with the buttons. The circular buttons developed cracks in the rubber around the buttons at about 5-6 years old. I'll look into the aerator issue - whether I have a built in one- and whether or not my faucet is high or low flow. There is no secondary aerator attached to the end - - those are kinda ugly IMHO. I am also no curious as to whether or not mine is lead free. My current faucet flow lands at the rim of the drain, if that helps. I'll try to photograph it later. If the faucet were farther forward, more of the splashiness would come on me than it now does. When my oldest is home this week-end from college, I'll see if she could video the whole thing....See MoreFaucet splashing help
Comments (5)I have a Hansgrohe Talis S. The distance from faucet head to bottom of sink with grid is about 20". Mine has a high arc, but, at rest and in its default position, the faucet head definitely points downward. Yours seems much more exposed and at risk of splashing. I had some splashing at first (still do if I'm not paying attention), and I think most people with high arcs and deep sinks do until they find a technique. You do have to be mindful of what's in the sink and also the point of entry of your hands or dishes into the flow of water. Even though I might still splash a bit, the water has never ended up on the floor....See MoreDo your faucets splash much?
Comments (14)If house water pressure in the supply pipes is high pressure, some areators let too much flow through, and some aerators limit flow to be the same as if the pressure was lower. Just f.y.i. I have no idea how to find out more about anyone's faucet except to harass the manufacturer for them to answer this question. I am a bit sick of uncovering more and more variables and unknowns in the faucet business, and also discovering that Consumer Reports has never turned this into a hot topic. Faucet manufacturers all try hard to reveal as little information as possible. I emailed Kohler to ask them to be more specific when they wrote about one faucet saying it was made of "metal". All I got was one more word from them. Over the last year I have emailed or phoned several manufacturers to ask them if the dual-spray function required me to maintain finger pressure on the button or if the toggle switch only required a one-time touch to activate the alternate spray pattern. If you ask the same question on two different days, you get contradictory answers. Some people just say anything "in good faith" and they can't be fired for giving the wrong answers. Others go get the answer and still come back with the wrong information. I once received two responses to a single email, and each person responding was unaware of the other employee responding. Guess what : their two answers contradicted each other totally !!
