How much space do you have behind your sink?
Comments (22)Kiki2013 -- it depends on the faucet you pick. You are cutting it close but you should make it. You need to measure it yourself to make sure. We did 3.25" from countertop front edge to front of sink, which was what the fabricator said was minimum. Our sink is slightly curved, so 3.25" was only at center -- slightly more as you move out to each side. If you use 3.5", assuming zero reveal and if you have standard counter depth with 1.5" overhang, that would leave you with 4.25" (25.5" - (17.75" + 3.5")) left to the back wall, minus the width of your backsplash. Make sure you are using the right sink measurements. You want the sink inside width, not the exterior measurement (e.g. measure what is visible when you go from front to bank). If you have a positive reveal, add the reveal amount twice (once for front and once for back) to the measurement. I have the Blanco Culina -- I have 1.5" from back of sink to the front of the faucet, the faucet is 1.75" width, and the width of my backsplash is 0.5". That is 3.75". You would want more than 0.5" from the back of the faucet to your backsplash. In our case, we have a window sill behind the sink with a 0.75" overhang beyond the backsplash, so we extended our countertops by 0.75" (to 26.25"). Everything fit in our case but with very little room to spare. You should pick a faucet where the handle doesn't pull back behind the faucet, which could cause your hand to hit the back wall. Comments (5)I purchased a goose neck faucet and I never thought about splashing. But mine does, not when it hits the sink, but when it hits my hands or what I am washing. My sink is 10" deep and the faucet is about 20+ inches from the bottom of the sink. I come away from the sink splattered. I think it is just my faucet (grohe concetto with a sprayer) & the water pressure I guess but I have yet to get used to it (or figure out how to adjust.) I am not sure the spray is a function of the goose neck, so this may not be very helpful to you. Helpful to me because I can vent :) I hope you can find somewhere you can try out the faucet you are considering. Some places have faucets installed - call around....See MoreDo you turn on your faucet with your right hand?
Comments (25)I have a Hansgrohe HighArc faucet with a large single "D" sink (Blanco Silgranite). Obviously the faucet should be mounted on the side. Since I'm right-handed I chose the right side after a lot of consideration. There were countertop complications and placing the faucet on the left was proposed. After considerable more thought I became more convinced to have it on the right. If it were on the left the lever would have to be rotated back to the backsplash. (Rotate forward to get warmer water.) On the right it's rotated toward the sink and provides cold water by default. Rotate back to get warmer water. From my new practical experience with a side-postitioned, side-lever faucet with a single sink I have come to the conclusion that it should be on your "natural" side (for this setup). When doing the simple functions, such as filling a glass of water, it doesn't really make much difference; it's pretty easy to adjust either way. For more complex tasks I usually turn on the faucet and use both hands; in this case I want the faucet to be on my "natural" side where I can more easily control the initial temperature and stream direction. Finally, this faucet is a pull-down without a lock-down spray mode. Again, I want the faucet on my natural side for washing down the large sink, etc. It's more awkward to reach across the sink to pull down and use the faucet if it is on my "un-natural" side. Most of the hand movements will be with the faucet head....See MoreCan you get warm water on your kitchen faucet? Does it splash?
Comments (5)I've never had the temperature problem (except for a lavatory I had that had separate faucets altogether for hot and cold) but I've never not gotten wet with the spray function, no matter what faucet I've used!...See Moreplllog
