Do gooseneck faucets splash if you have a 10' deep sink?

I am looking at the Franke or Blanco zero redius sink which are 10" deep. If I get a faucet that is gooseneck (contemporary style) will it slash because of the height?? I am considering the smartouch faucet - a few brands have them. You touch it anywhere on the faucet and it turns on. Anyone out there have one? Thanks!

I purchased a goose neck faucet and I never thought about splashing. But mine does, not when it hits the sink, but when it hits my hands or what I am washing. My sink is 10" deep and the faucet is about 20+ inches from the bottom of the sink. I come away from the sink splattered. I think it is just my faucet (grohe concetto with a sprayer) & the water pressure I guess but I have yet to get used to it (or figure out how to adjust.) I am not sure the spray is a function of the goose neck, so this may not be very helpful to you. Helpful to me because I can vent :) I hope you can find somewhere you can try out the faucet you are considering. Some places have faucets installed - call around.

It's not the shape of the faucet really that creates splashing, but the shape of what it's hitting and the angle it's hitting at. My friend's sink is curved in a way that if the water hits a certain part it comes up in a fountain right all over you. I think it must be a hyperbola. If you use a gooseneck faucet to be able to hold things in the stream above the rim of the sink you're more likely to be splashed for not having the sink to splash against, like with a 40 years ago's flat faucet.

I think the OP means S405...the single-bowl D-shaped sink. Do a search on sink + 405, you may find one of the threads that recently discussed D-shaped vs rectangular sinks...IIRC, there were quite a few pictures of both types sink. I hope you do keep your uppers. They are so charming! When I first saw my gooseneck faucet and my Shaws farmhouse sink together, I was concerned about the height. It measures 16 inches up from the counter. That is pretty far. Yours as a wall-mounted faucet might be even higher. One minor complaint that I have - -the height of the faucet does seem to make water splash more because of the long drop. It is a long way for the water to travel from the faucet tip to the bottom of the deep Shaws apron sink. I am getting used to it - - and adjusting my habits as I like to keep the counters dry. The splash factor, though, is definitely more of an issue than in my old sink. Love the Shaws fireclay sink by Rohl. Installation of the sink needs to be thought out. We had problems with the frameless cabinet box and the edge banding that does not match from Wood-Mode. Brookhaven frameless would also have the same problem from what I have been told. I would imagine you are going to have more or less period cabinetry with framed cabinets. That will be nice. I have begun to realize that framed boxes are probably better for Shaws sinks, but, as I am no expert, I can't be sure. Our installation of the Shaws has been problematic. We just finished reinforcing the sink base today. The sink drains slowly. We think we might have a solution to that now. We shall see later this month. Has to do with the plumbing of the garbage disposal. We had problems with the Shaws sink and the air gap - the air gap drains on the counter. Are you in a place where an air gap is required for dishwasher installations? If you can get away with a high loop, that would be better. No ugly air gap, fewer air gap problems perhaps. We have a separate sprayer in the sink. Very handy, but probably not what you'll want for a period kitchen. Clean up of the sink is faster with the sprayer, and our little dog loves his baths with the sprayer. We put in a second faucet for RO (reverse osmosis) water. The second faucet looks like an afterthought. Wish we could have had better design work on this. Overall, I originally thought the faucet was too tall. When I stand back and look, a tall faucet seems to work good with the exposed apron of the Shaws sink. Hope that helps a little.

Something is wrong with your faucet aerator. A faucet, properly aerated, should not splash at all no matter how high it is from the bottom of the sink. Call the manufacturer and get a new aerator, preferable a Neoperl if one is offered for your product. Or call Neoperl (203-756-8451) for help picking a Neoperl aerator that will fit you faucet.

it depends on how the aerator shapes the water stream.
i wonder if the height of a 9" high spout over a 10"deep sink will also make a difference.

it depends on the flow volume also. (gpm varies).
it depends on the shape of the surface receiving the stream also.

unfortunately there is no way to see real people operating their faucets in their sinks unless we open a site to receive videos they take of this.

sparklekitty: In general, the GPM delivery rate of a faucet is fixed, however, this faucet allows for adjustment by the end user.

The faucet is preset at the max.

The 2.5mm allen wrench to make the adjustment was probably included. Just remove the handle (probably the same allen wrench), a retainer and two washers. Reassemble in the reverse order.

Hi there, I have a 10" deep, zero radius, single bowl and a Grohe faucet with a goose neck. It does splash. More off of hands and dishes, but it does splash. I accept it because of the look. Love Love Love the look!
