The sliding problem: Put this stuff on the sliding areas. http://www.rockler.com/nylo-tape-friction-free-drawer-slide-tape The dust problem: Remove all the drawers and apply thin masonite panels to the top, rear and bottom of the area. Comments (6)@User is right that the gray trend is behind us and has been for several years now. Do I take this right that you will be moving in 10 years? If so, I would keep the tile and save your money for improvements in your permanent retirement home. Also, I am in the middle of a home renovation and can tell you that the work required to prep a slab for wood flooring will be dusty, not to mention the demolition of the existing tile. You could end up with damages to other surfaces taking out that tile, and there will be dust all over everything to clean up. It just doesn't seem worth it when the tile you have now is so nice. If this were old tile or an odd color, then that's a different story, but it looks like you have a light neutral tile that is brand new....See MoreBuilt In Shelf Dilemma
Comments (12)Thank you both! OK sharing one more photo with another thought. Clearly I am very indecisive about the space. Below The picture of the wall to the right of the fireplace. Technically the shelves on the right would only extend about halfway across this wall so therefore it would be kind of sticking out as it’s not an enclosed space. I am worried that it might trying to force the shelves into the space? Would it be better to just frame out the mantle fireplace area more and perhaps do an accent color or some thing to enhance. Then leave the walls on either side open?...See MoreAs built -- 3D rendering - My dilemma
Comments (9)No one needs any 3D anything for any of this. Plain flat paper plans are what get filed for the permits, used by the lumber yard and window supplier, and used by the foundation contractor, framers, and roofers. Etc. . Getting hung up on 3D renderings for anything is a ridiculous homeowner thing for someone who has zero visualization skills. It is NOT needed, and is counter productive to the process of actual space planning for someone who does have that innate space visualization skill. Like an architect. It’s a crutch for the homeowner that fixates on them prematurely for bad designs that should be cast aside. Theres nothing worse than a homeowner with software skill but no design skill....See Moretricialp
