How about some elegant black iron scroll work? There are scads of varieties and they are often the perfect solution for a wall that needs that certain "something". (The photos are from my home.) I recommend choosing art that a) reflects your interests and b) makes you happy every time you see it. You said you can't your hang travel visas and martinis, but why not? You could frame your travel visas and arrange them under a large matte. For the martinis, you could either buy a painting or print of them or literally frame some martini classes in a shadow box. You might also consider vintage travel posters from places you love or that you've already been to. Your home is very nice!

OK that makes sense. Then I agree with groveaxles placement but would make it as narrow as possible. Or depending on your room arrangement could a swivel chair be utilized as part of your seating area, that could swing around to face the closet...so serve the function of both Conversation seating and place to put on shoes? have to say I really like the closets you added.

We have a contemporary house, the entry and steps and the patio/deck are concrete. We would like it to match the house style, but the finish is terrible, uneven and not square/plumbed. (See phots). Altough the art posted above would look great, I always like a mirror by the front door. The art/mirror combination is so practical - - leave your handbag and anything else that needs to exit the house with you the next morning on the bench, and apply lipstick as you're heading out the door. That's assuming you regularly use the front door - if not definitely go with art.
