Disable cooling mode on Carrier mini-split head?

I'm interested in getting a mini-split heat pump system. Part of it would be in the basement, which is living space. The man who sells Carrier units says he cannot put a head down there because it would require a pump for the condensate that is produced in cooling model, and a pump will not fit on a unit mounted on a block wall, which is what we have there.

However, we would never need to run it in cooling mode there, as it never gets hot on that level. But he is worried that someone will mistakenly put it in cooling mode, resulting in flooding.

My idea is to somehow disable the cooling mode, so that is not a concern. Would that be possible? He doesn't seem to think so.
