Caulk doesn't stick to stainless steel sink
Comments (55)My son-in-law said the same thing. I have 2 small blocks All Marble and Granite gave to me in case I ever needed to match the granite. That should have been a red flag. Can you recommend a granite place ? I found 2 more (for repair) and both said NO! There is a back splash and they gave me a ledge on the window sill. Can you believe I never looked under the sink before and saw the wooden blocks? I will also call my contractor since he deals with granite people. I should have had him oversee this. As I said, my girlfriend found a smaller polaris sink. I am so fed up, I am thinking, if I have to replace the granite, I will use my corian overmount sink that I still have from when I had a laminate counter top....See MoreHelp Botched Kitchen Granite Top Install
Comments (20)Update on my project. All attempts to fix my problems failed. The big box store agreed to provide me with a new granite counter top from a national cabinet manufacturer. Two weeks ago, during the install, they discovered that my sink cutout was wrong and removed all of the granite. The next day they told me that they had to order more granite and it would be another week before reinstall. 2 days ago they came to install, but they only installed 2 out of three pieces of granite. Now they are claiming that they will return next week with a matching piece of granite. It's ubatuba. I thought that all granite had to be cut from 1 sheet. What's the chance that this 3rd piece will match existing granite?...See MoreAdvice on botched kitchen island top
Comments (18)I am a fabricator. Insist on a remake. You might not need to wait for material from the original supplier. While it is true color can vary between lots that issue is most important when pieces from different lots are to be seamed. When seamed even very slight differences in hue become obvious at the joint. Since the island is a stand alone piece a slab from a different lot could easily be a close enough match to not be noticeable even to a close inspection. The fabricator should have a remnant from the original work he can use to do a color match with the alternate lot. In any case the fabricator needs to fix the problem to your satisfaction....See MoreHELP - botched countertop & sink job
Comments (28)Ugh, this is so stressful. Technically avcording to the naufacturer, it says up to 16 inch overhang for standard 24 in depth cabinets. And the end cap was very expensive and is considered supportive, solid wood and plywood & the cabinets were level/plumb and installed by a trusted licensed contractor. Now, just to be safe, because I dont want to ignore these warnings. If I am to properly support the countertop, can I add some supportive corbels? Professional installation by someone trusted & not this other guy btw. Kitchen designer told me that it would be fine btw! Otherwise I woukd have bought the extra support ahead of time! I am usually already skeptical with professionals, but now I might be mistrusting at this point. Oh and btw before installation day and when he was there for the estimate, I even asked the countertop professional if everything had enough support and was level/plumb (although i new it was level- just to be safe!)… Its just one thing after another… and i just cant afford. I maxed out my budget! I might see if i can get some money back....See MoreThe Kitchen Place
