thermador vs kitchen aid DW
Comments (10)I just pulled out my Thermador Kitchen Design and Planning Guide, Volume 2 which I ordered to check on your question. It's thick. There are four DW in the Collection: Emerald, Topaz, Sapphire and Star-Sapphire. The Emerald DW does not have an operating indicator that lets you know when the DW is running. Such a basic function. :( The Topaz has the Blue Power Beam as does the Sapphire. The Star Sapphire projects time remaining on the kitchen floor! As to the tines in the Emerald: it accommodates 14 plate settings and allows rack height adjustment. 48 dBA. The Sapphire is also 14 place settings, rack adjustment, Chef's Tool Drawer for extra loading capacity of utensils and 44 dBA. Maybe they will let you upgrade to Topaz by paying the difference? As to the Theramdor double ovens, we have them and they cook great and have not needed servicing. Ours are old models though, and even have their own vent to outside. Hope this helps. It's always nice to save a little for other kitchen purchases....See MoreWolf DF366 vs. KitchenAid KDRU767VSS (36-inch dual-fuel ranges)
Comments (2)I searched on aj madison on the kitchenaid and it was $5019 and i found i got better prices with my local appliance dealer for my appliances. You might shop around more on the kitchenaid. The wolf you will have a harder time shopping it around as it is set pricing. On splattering we use an old fashioned splatter guard and that works great to reduce cleanup. You pay extra for wolf for the reputation, cache, and service. It might be worth it on resale. On aj madison websiteyou can do a comparison of the specs on each and see the differences....See MoreWolf DF vs. Thermador Pro Grand DF vs. Miele DF vs. BlueStar ranges
Comments (26)Sorry, just took a look at this thread again and noticed your question...by the time I got to Miele, I had decided on induction, so I didn't give the Miele an actual test drive. I did give it a pretty thorough inspection at the Miele place, though, and thought it was a very sexy range -- and the performance seemed very similar to the Wolf dual fuel. I say that b/c the Miele also has the stacked burners, which I really liked, but the BTUs are higher than Wolf (which top out at around 16k, I believe -- Miele was closer to 20k or so -- I can't quite remember). The Miele ovens on the 48" range were very nice -- the smaller one is a speed oven, and the bigger one is a regular convection. The speed oven wasn't a big plus for me personally, since I really wanted a steam oven as a second oven, but there are people on this forum who love their speed ovens. One thing I really liked about the Miele oven, which Wolf doesn't have, is the burst of steam option, which is great for baking (you can program up to 3 bursts of steam for up to 6 min. each during cooking). I didn't care that much about the MasterChef options on Miele, but again, others love these. At any rate, the Miele seemed very similar to the Wolf, I liked the steam option on the oven better and liked the Miele burners better (also, if you're interested in a grill, theirs was excellent and seemed very similar to the Wolf, which I think is the best in the business). If I had stuck with a range, I would have been very tempted by the Miele....See More36" Ranges: BlueStar vs Wolf vs Thermador
Comments (21)We decided on the 36" Thermador Dual Fuel Pro Harmony with griddle. It'll be a few months before we're able to install but I'm looking forward to it! It's sitting in my garage right now just being a tease. The main impacts on our decision were the depth (standard vs commercial) because it's in a tight corner which would be uncomfortable with a more protruding appliance. And the fact that it came with a free dishwasher rebate. Even though we didn't actually need to replace the dishwasher, I couldn't resist a shiny freshie one vs the one that came with the house. I thought really hard about going with the Wolf especially with their good customer service history, but I was worried about the porcelain chipping, backorder status, and the fact that some of the features that were a plus on the Thermador like the telescoping oven grates, were available for an extra fee on an already more expensive unit. The Thermador was already a stretch for us so that's where we stayed! I decided I wanted a dual fuel rather than an all-gas, so we eliminated the BlueStar, though it seems like a solid choice otherwise. Best of luck to you all with your decisions - now it's just puzzling out the hood and ventilation systems for me. If you thought the range decision was hard - eep!...See Morejuliacali
