Consider painting out the downspouts to match your brick and change the color of your shutters to black or dark green. Baby steps!

Your house looks quite good as is. Plant some geraniums in pots and call it a day. I understand wanting a change, but you’ve got a nice home! Paint a board black and then set it over one of the shutters to see if black shutters would help?

Brick is very low maintenance if unpainted. If you paint it, level of maintenance is much higher.. I'd recommend painting using an accent color for the front door and working with landscaping to lessen the impact of so much brick, A taller shrub, for example, would anchor what you already have, hide the downspouts and lessen the brick. (I'd also trim the shrubs under the window)

Gray always looks great on exteriors. Check out the painted brick.

I definitely think you'd be better off painting the trim instead of the brick in the long run. Once you paint brick you can't go back -- sandblasting paint off ususally causes damage and water will often seep in through re-mortared brick that has had paint removed.

This is a pretty house. I wouldn't paint the brick or the trim. I would paint the downspouts to make them disappear, prune the bushes to open up the window, and add a little color in the garden.

This is always a bone of contention it appears on Houzz. :))) I personally say paint it. Probably a soft white, breathable. :)

I’d paint it also. Love the look of washed brick. It’s been done forever, wouldn’t worry about it going out of style. its not a passing fad.

I understand painting ugly brick but this brick is lovely. A classic colour and it suits the house style. I don't understand why anyone would want to paint it and add maintenance to a no-fuss material. I suspect painting perfectly fine brick is one of those upgrades that make subsequent owners curse.

A black roof and black shutters would be a nice classic up-date rather than the trend of schmeering.

I love your brick, something that’s not seen too much where I live. If you want a change, I agree with those that say paint the trim. Your brick is classic & very attractive, not like some of the variegated ones we see on here.
