What SubZero do you have?
Comments (11)Well, I must admit that your SZ sure preserves "Horse Feathers" well, and it is kind of you to share your "More than adequate supply of same, with those of us here In GW! SZ mentions as one of 3 things needed to "keep food fresh" is precise temp control and they mention their +/1 degree F~~~~~well that's just half as good as the JA which is +/- 0.5 F. One can not control the temps of the various compartments, (meat, veggie & Chrisper) in the SZ as they can with the JA, (at least my model of JA), and in fact Consumer Reports mentioned that fact, as other fridges do have that capability besides my JA. CR also mentioned that the SZ is more noisy than some other fridges, (maybe that goes along with the horse feathers)? I grow my own boysenberries, and they keep very well in my JA fridge. The JA fridge3 has the "Climatezone" storage has automatic humidity control which does not require a $50 filter that must be changed every year (a la SZ). My JA also has "Built in" diagnostics. It checks every fan, thermistor, defrost sensors, compressor speeds, etc etc, sooooo if I ever do have a problem, I can "Nail it down" to which part is giving problems and not call a repair company to first "come out, look see", then make a guess as to what part is needed, then order the part and then come back. Well, It used to be SZ was , as you posted, "in a class of its own"~~~~but that was "Pricewise ONLY"~~~~now the other fridges have caught up with SZ's prices, as I posted here, probably round 7 years ago, ~~~so now folks hafta pay thru the nose on just about any built in fridge, thanks to SZ! Comments (13)Well I guess I'm a little different duck. I have a fridge that will easily fit in the 48 in hole. We have designed and built the opening to fit the new sub. We will have to wait for 4-5 months( I doubt they will delay into 2009) Once I get the fridge I will have it for 20 years. So I can wait. I do the same thing with cars I do not want old technology when I know new is around the corner. You can argue old reliabile is better than new unknown. Most new designs at the high end are meant to fix old problems and improve the product....See Morepreferred brand/model for linear shower drain?
Comments (32)John here are two closeups. The first picture shows the corners of the grates and the rolled edges. The cover is actually level to the edge. In the second picture you can see the top edge of the trough part of the drain is a finished edge, as you can step on this edge you wouldn't want to cut it down. The gap between the cover and the trough is predetermined in manufacturing. What probably should have been done to make sure it drained even better is for our first row of tile to be set at a slightly steeper angle. Then each row set after that would have continued on the upward slope. It's almost flat to the drain so the water can pool/collect just a little at this edge after the shower is shut off. The entire shower is sloped though so it drains really well while you're using the shower. I just use a squeegee and push the little pooling into the drain. You can see a bit of water marks in the bottom picture, typically I rub a bit of Turtle Wax on the grate covers when I clean them, buff them off, to prevent build up - also spray after each shower with a daily shower cleaner....See MoreOven choice...Grinding teeth! Comments (85)A lot of bad info in recent comments... "Speed oven is a type of microwave." No. A speed oven is not at a microwave of any sort. Speed ovens are often combined with a microwave but the speed oven is totally different technology, usually light. Combi Speed/MW have an advantage in being able to use both technologies to produce food that is enjoyable to eat and retains nutritional value. "Microwaves give off radiation, destroys nutrients in food." No. From a purely nutritional standpoint cooking in a microwave is extremely good and preserves nutrients better than most forms of cooking. There are dozens or hundreds of studies on this that you can find online. That said, I don't like the taste and texture of microwaved food. For veggies steaming is nearly equally as good as microwave from a nutritional standpoint but produces more enjoyable food to eat. I also love to roast veggies but roasting does reduce the nutritional value significantly more than steam or MW. ---- From an overall health standpoint, ANY harm from a microwave (and we still don't know if there is or not) is likely far less than that from traditional cooking (induction, gas or electric coil) with a poor range exhaust hood that results in VOC's and Carcinogens spread throughout your house....See Moreuscpsycho
