@wekick - That's crazy. I don't run my clean cycle often, but I do run it. I also want to run it. I am wondering why they use the blue enamel if it chips. Why not just go back to the black. It's not that difficult. The fans don't concern me much as I don't often cook side to side but it's a good thing to know. I asked because if the E series didn't have the chipping problem then I'd sacrifice my knobs for that. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. I'll look into the Heston - who knows. Maybe I should just get the Monogram. It has good reviews and looks nice.

What kind of comm problem do you have, wekick?

My 2006 Electrolux Icon oven still works great and never had a repair.

A couple of times over those 14 years or so, I have had to kill the power at the breaker to fix a comm problem, seems like it had to do with broil but not sure as it happened so rarely and resetting the breaker always fixed it.

My Electrolux speed oven still works great, no repairs and the original magnitron still works like new.

My Electrolux wine cooler did need a new fan and temp control switch.

The Electrolux Icon Induction has never had any problems or repairs.

My Miele dishwasher require a new inlet valve at a cost of about $500 (includes service call) but strangely enough they never cashed my check for the repair????

We did have to replace my beloved Jenn Air fridge, really was due more to not being able to find anybody that knew what they were doing as far as repairs go. The more they worked on it the worse it got. Every company that Whirlpool (Jennair) recommended had horiffic reviews & finally we gave up and bought a Sub Zero.

Now we love the Sub Zero and were I to replace my oven, I would buy the Wolf rather than the Miele, due to Wolf/Sub Zero service reputation. Miele service can be real "iffy" depending upon where you are located.

I would stay away from blue enamel. Too great of a risk given history. Some people luck out and have no problems, others not so much.

Blue enamel or not I'm not a fan of cleaning ovens beyond wiping loose stuff up with a wet (water only) cloth. NEVER ever ever use any chemicals. Never.

Purchased the Wolf dual range and noticed what appeared to be ash on the oven floor about 4 months after installing. The service man arrived and told me to use the self clean cycle even though it had no residual anywhere in the oven. The self cleaning caused the blue enamel to chip in both front corners of the oven floor and ash remained. I was told to give it little more time and preheat for the next few days for the fans to clean.

I called service back again and when they removed the plate covering the fans they discovered the blue enamel had incinerated off the back plate causing the porcelain dust to be spewed on whatever I was cooking. He also noted at that time the corners were chip led about the size of a quarter on both sides of the oven floor.

The company wanted tp replace the entire oven unit but it was going to take several weeks before they could send someone to do this. Ultimately after much complaint on my part they delivered and installed a new oven. The company did also extend my warranty.

As a f/u the blue oven floor corners are again grazed noticed after using the higher heat to cook a pizza. I have had the oven for two years to date.

I love the way the oven looks and the gas burners heat quickly, however I would not purchase one again. My electric Electrolux oven ws great and I never hd a problem with it for the 10 years I had it.

@HU-586293355 - I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you've had with your Wolf oven. I'm going to screen shot this comment. I spoke to Wolf just yesterday and they assured me this was fixed. I had pretty much decided to roll the dice. If I go ahead, I will insist on an extended warranty and be very careful with the oven temps. May I ask what temp you cooked your pizza at?

I love my Electrolux wall oven but have had issues with chipping. It was easily fixed though at a lot less money than my Wolf DF which Wolf would not fix When it chipped @4.5 years.

It's worth noting that the M series oven has the replaceable bottom, and it's relatively cheap - less than $100 if I remember correctly. It's pretty easy to replace as well, a reasonably handy person could do it themselves, without a service call. So if it does chip out of warranty, it's not the end of the world.

I am also in the market for a new wall oven, induction cooktop, warming drawer and microwave. I was told by a friend (who owns an appliance store) to stay away from Wolf. He was steering me towards the Miele products. However, I see mixed reviews about Miele as well. And the Miele also seems very complicated to use. (It's like a fancy car... the more gadgets and the more that can break). I, too, would love to hear from others about their thoughts. And does anyone have a speed oven by Wolf or Miele? Thanks....

Go Miele all the way. Especially get the Combo Steam oven, Coffeemaker and wall oven with a shot of steam, their dishwashers are the best. Not many if any problems with Miele

I would stay far far away from any built in coffeemakers. The focus on these is aesthetics and wow factor, NOT making good coffee nor being reliable. The Breville Oracle or Oracle Touch will provide you with much better coffee and reliability for the money.

I have a new oven the H6780BP, I really like all the modes and its easy to use browns evenly too. I need to hook up the burst of steam. It would be useful not just for baking but for meats as well.

Hate to disagree, but the Miele coffeemaker is the best, easy to use and not much can break on it. I had mine for many years without any problems or service.

@jnh77, Yes. We had our previous Miele Masterchef for about 18 years and were very happy with it. This one is overall an improvement. Only compliant is that the interface is a bit clumsy sometimes like requiring a lot more clicks than necessary to set times, temps and stuff but overall great ovens.

Some Miele coffeemakers do last but far too many have problems and when they do it's quite costly to repair them. Many threads on here about that.

What is good coffee is fairly subjective but when we did a taste test at someone's house who had one the consensus was that it was the worst of the options we tried (Meile, Cuisinart, Aero press, french press, Rancilio Silvia, Nespresso Classic and Breville Oracle Touch). The last 3 were americano's made w/ espresso. Breville won (surprising all of us) then Nespresso, Silvia, etc. There were about 30 people trying and voting.

Hi there! My husband and I moved last year during the pandemic, and left a house with a 48” subzero fridge-freezer, double wolf ovens (top was convention and self-cleaning - bottom wasn’t). There was a 48” Thermodore professional gas cooktop when we bought the house in 2004, and it was installed in 1998 or 1999. I’d never owned a gas stove or cooktop, nor had I had double ovens.

We are about to gut the kitchen in our 1959 ranch style house, and I’ve been trying to figure out what to get. I’ve got a Bosche dishwasher and fridge (it’s what we could get quickly in the pandemic but I LOVE the dishwasher - fridge is fine.). I don’t have room for double ovens or a freestanding range, so I’m thinking about an electric wall oven, a steam convection(speed) oven, and a gas cooktop. We’ve been looking at Miele, Wolf, Thermodore, and GE (shockingly). I want buttons or knobs, not an electronic touch screen.

I LOVED my wolf ovens. I used them to bake, roast, dehydrate, and so much more. We had the blue interior and never even knew to anticipate an issue. I did the self-clean when the interior got really dirty, but just wiped up spills otherwise. No crazing, no ash. The only issue I ever had was cleaning between the glass when a drip got between the door panes. I also miss my old Sub-Zero with the compressor on top and easy to access for cleaning it or changing the water filter.

I wanted to chime in on the Wolf ovens and the subzero. By the way, we loved our kitchen aid warming drawer and double fridge drawers, too. Worth every penny! Wish I had my old kitchen in this house, but now my knees don’t hurt from climbing stairs all the time!

Suggestions on what we should get for a small kitchen? I’m thinking I want a 30” gas cooktop (5 or 6 burners), a 30” wall oven and speed oven so I have extra cooking capability when our nest isn’t empty. I want reliability and ease of use.

Hi Betsey, I can only speak to what I have but like you had, I love my SZ fridge and freezer. I'm sure your Bosch is good too. I love our Bosch dishwashers. I have a Wolf steam oven and I really like it, but I'd caution having as your only oven as the interior is only 24". That said, I love it and use it and my counter oven more than my 30" Wolf convection oven. I had purchased a sous vide and now I realize I can sous vide in the steam oven. I'd say it is very different from a speed oven but food does cook quickly with steam. If you loved your Wolf oven, consider one 30" self cleaning. The downside to the steam oven as an only oven is it is not self cleaning.

@Betsey Mowery - I'm in the middle of a kitchen reno myself. I've done extensive research to try and find the look and function that works for me. I have a rather large space so I am doing a 48 inch SubZero, double wall ovens from Wolf, a 36 inch induction Rangetop from Fulgor Milano, and a Bosch dishwasher. I decided on induction because it's as responsive as gas and much easier to clean. That being said, if I were going with a gas cooktop, I'd do a Bosch Benchmark, or the Cafe from GE. I can't speak to the speed oven because at my age, I don't want to have to learn another way to cook. Bosch makes great products and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any of them.

If I didn't want an indoor grill, I'd have chosen induction over gas. I love to sous vide and finish on the indoor grill.

JK - I'm so lazy now I just shovel my way out to the outdoor gas grill in the bad weather.

Design Girl, J K- We are in process of the kitchen remodel and trying to pick the appliances. How is your experience with wolf wall Oven and other wolf products? I am thinking of 36" Wolf range top with gridle, 42" wolf wall hood with 600cfm blower.30" E series single wall oven, 30" E series speed wall oven , 42" SubZero with dispenser.

@sunarakaa - The kitchen is not in yet. We had an issue with permits and the foundation has just been finished. My appliances are on order. I decided on the Wolf M series double wall ovens, SubZero 48 inch fridge, and since I wanted induction and not gas, a 36 inch Fulgor Milano range top. I will get an extended warranty for my Wolf ovens. I've also read that most of the issues come from cleaning the oven too often. I'm going to get some oven liners so I don't have to clean as much. I'll also try to wipe up spills when they occur. I've also been told not to leave the door cracked when broiling (as the control panel is just above). I'll probably broil in the bottom oven if necessary. These things were told to me as things to do with all ovens, not just Wolf.

@sunarakaa - I did not, although I understand they are quite good. I'm going for a more classic, timeless kitchen and felt the Wolf suited that best. I found the Bosch a bit too modern looking in design for what I was going for.

For others reading this... Indoor grills produce a significant amount of harmful VOC's and especially carcinogens. Even with our commercial range hood I'd not want one inside our home. Unless in Hawaii or some place similar where windows are open with breezes ALL of the time they are a bad idea to have inside.

I have a new Sub Zero which I love the old one lasted 30 years. The rest of the appliances are Miele which are also great and last about 20 years. I have a new built in coffee maker and 30" oven. If I were to do it all over I would put in the Combi Steam Oven and Induction by Miele and forgo the 30" oven. Everything you do in an oven you can do in the Combi Steam Oven, saving space. Induction is faster and cleaner.

@C Hall can you use steam oven as a microwave? Trying to decide between steam oven vs speed oven.

No, get rid of your microwave. Steam cooking is easier and healthier. Speed oven is a type of microwave. I have learned to cook differently since owning a Miele steam oven. Depends on how you want to cook. My microwave which I got rid of about 15 years ago was used for thawing something out or heating water or coffee. I would never go back

I was just asking why heating food in a cloud of steam is -- as you wrote -- healthier than cooking it in a microwave oven.

Microwaves give off radiation, destroys nutrients in food. If food is in a plastic container, theplastic leaches into the food. Is that enough to stop using a microwave?

No none with Wolf. I have a SZ refrig and rest is Miele, the finishes look fine together Makes for an upscale kitchen

@sunarakaa - As an interior designer, If you feel the finishes are different, they probably are and that's what you'll see every single day (and most likely be bothered by.) Many people are not as visual as others and they don't notice a difference, or don't care. Personally, I don't even like handles that don't match, but most may not be bothered at all. I opted to forgo a steam oven. I went to Wolf demonstration and felt that the learning curve was not something I wanted to invest time in at my age. I'll still use a microwave for the little bit I need it for.

No. A speed oven is not at a microwave of any sort. Speed ovens are often combined with a microwave but the speed oven is totally different technology, usually light. Combi Speed/MW have an advantage in being able to use both technologies to produce food that is enjoyable to eat and retains nutritional value.

No. From a purely nutritional standpoint cooking in a microwave is extremely good and preserves nutrients better than most forms of cooking. There are dozens or hundreds of studies on this that you can find online.

That said, I don't like the taste and texture of microwaved food. For veggies steaming is nearly equally as good as microwave from a nutritional standpoint but produces more enjoyable food to eat. I also love to roast veggies but roasting does reduce the nutritional value significantly more than steam or MW.

From an overall health standpoint, ANY harm from a microwave (and we still don't know if there is or not) is likely far less than that from traditional cooking (induction, gas or electric coil) with a poor range exhaust hood that results in VOC's and Carcinogens spread throughout your house.
