Top mount vs under mount sink?
Comments (9)I have a stainless drop in. I don't understand all the talk of crud catching in the lip, I don't find that to be the case. Regular cleaning around the sink area every day makes that a non issue for me.Having never had an undermount sink I can't say, but it would seem to me that more crud would catch in that area than in a top mount. I've never dented a stainless sink, I would guess you'd have to drop something pretty heavy in it to dent it. I guess it depends on how thick your steel is? But I do hate the water spotting on the stainless. Everything has its trade offs I guess. For the most part I find the drop in stainless pretty tough and easy to care for....See Moreneed help for under mount sink installation with Caesar stone
Comments (24)Quote from the first post : '' We called caesar stone and they clearly said thats not the way we recommened to install the sink but you can ask your fabricator to call us about the warranty . my question was very simple to them will it cause future problem with the life time warranty but they said your fabricator should call us and he is the one who can give you warranty for the installation .'' It looks like it is the fabricator you should ask about warranty . Just a reminder : You do have a 3cm Caeserstone , not the 2cm one . Even if the groove is 1cm deep , there is a lot of material left with lots of strength . As suggested , if concerns are about the material splitting , which in this case it is highly unlikely , then you can always fill the grooves as much as possible . Another reminder : The sink in question is coming with attaching brackets and maybe in the fabricators experience , they decided it is better to use them in combination with a strong man made stone . Nothing wrong with it , especially with sinks which need prying force to bring them close to the stone . I do not use this system , but I've seen it on many occasions by other fabricators . You should make sure the sink lip is siliconed well to the stone , for preventing future leaks ....See MoreTop-mount or under-mount utility sink in laundry room?
Comments (3)What sort of jobs do you do in a utility sink, e.g. clean paint brushes, wash the dog, rinse off dirt from outside? My laundry sink does that sort of job as well as clean up wet disasters big and small. The operative word is wet and dirty. With an under-mount sink, I would be afraid of the possibility of hidden mold forming even if I were vigilant about disinfecting with bleach. Isn't there at least one side of the sink you won't see easily when scrubbing? I solved the problem with a free-standing utility sink....See MoreMounting an apron front sink as a traditional under counter sink
Comments (4)Forget doing fireclay unless you want to pay half of your countertops cost to have it removed and replaced when it fails. Fireclay is not what it’s publicity team says it is. It chips, crazes, and cracks. Just do a stainless undermount. It will outlast your grandchildren....See MoreNancy Lacey
