Are 12x15 Koehler #2210 under mount sinks too small?
Comments (7)Cobblestone7, we don't find the sinks annoying in any way. Neither my DH or I wash our faces by splashing water on them with our hands which is apparently why some people like larger sinks. We don't find ourselves having issues with lots of splashing. If have a wall on each side of your vanity, I would think you would definitely like an extra inch or 2 of space next to the walls. Also there may be codes for the amount of space needed between the sinks and from the center of the sinks to the walls. That might be the determining factor for your sink choice. You asked asked about hardware. I assume you mean the faucet. We had intended to use a regular wide spread faucet with separate hot and cold handles but our plumber mistakenly told the granite guys that we were doing a 4 inch center set faucet and we didn't catch that mistake when the fabricator sent us the layout for our approval. So the 3 holes were drilled wrong. We dislike center set faucets so we opted for the single hole/single lever one in the picture. We had to use the estucheon plate to cover the two other holes. So the faucet is just a regular one for a regular size sink. It is Kohler's Forte faucet. I actually have the same faucets in my hall bath which has bigger sinks. My son and daughter both used the Forte faucet in their homes but the just had a single hole so didnt use the estucheon plate. Good luck in your decision....See Moreputting a drop in or under mounted sink to an old cabinet
Comments (9)You could do a small vessel sink, which will require cutting a hole in the top and gutting the interior for the plumbing. The lack of size on this will force any faucet to likely need to be wall mounted, which is expensive, or offset to one corner. You will also have issues with water damaging the piece as vessel sinks do have more splashout and hand run off on the counter surface. Installing a stone slab on top would help with that. Or, you could place a stone slab on the top, after cutting away most of that top in order to allow a very small under-mount sink to be attached to the stone only. The piece is somewhat low for a undermounted sink. You could do a top mount sink on the existing surface, but that is an open invitation to almost immediate water damage. Or, again, you could cut out the top and place a stone slab on it for a top mounted sink. If you value the piece, I would use it elsewhere. For a powder room situation, I personally like as much counter space as can be squeezed out of a powder room....See Moreunder mount sink SOS
Comments (14)Back those brackets out, drop the sink, scrape the silicone off the flange (if they used any) and the bottom of the top. Secure a Hercules Universal Sink Harness (Braxton Bragg) or a couple of Sink Straps from Regent Stone Products to the cabinet sides. Silicone the sink flange, run a pipe clamp through a hole in a 2x4 that spans the top and through the drain, snug the sink, and check the reveals. Tighten the HUSH/Straps, pull the clamp, clean up the silicone and your sink is mounted permanently and professionally. Like this, please. While the sink is out, re-drill the hole for the dishwasher drain to the top of the cabinet, please. It's much too low now. I am not a fan of sink clips, manufacturer supplied/specified or not. I see this constantly: Since they take up so much room, they make the front top rail fat. To keep the front rail skinny, fabricators just eliminate the clips from where they're the most needed. Skinny as you please with a strap....See MoreUnder mount sink with seam or drop in without seam
Comments (6)Put on the brakes with this fabricator and please find another one. The sink being undermount or top-mount has nothing to do with where the seam is placed. The only reason to opt for a top-mount sink is if your counter material is laminate, which typically requires a top-mount sink. If you are getting granite counters, you should be able to have an undermount sink, and the seam placement should not be a factor for whether the sink is undermounted or not. As mentioned above, the picture you show is a flush-mount sink. A top-mount sink will not be "what the edge of the sink looks like" in your OP photo. I hope you will be present at the template layout of your granite slab at the fabricator. You must insist on this....See MoreThe Endless Designs
