long narrow living room. no idea where to start! suggestions ❤️
Comments (3)Forgive me, but I can't help envisaging an architect giggling with malicious glee putting all those openings in that space. Not easy to deal with. I think a bit more explanation would help, as below. And what is that big black box in the bottom pic? A refrigerator? A moveable thing? A floor plan showing approximate measurements would help -- a rough one would be fine -- as it is hard to gauge those on a wide-angle pic....See MoreHelp with long, narrow open concept dining/living room & dead space
Comments (6)Thank you all SO much! Really wonderful to read your suggestions and get input. Much appreciated. And makes me feel there is potential for this space. I never considered a bigger rug, but will do so now as that seems to be a repeated suggestion. We will also take another look at the the height of that mirror on the side wall (above the mantel is a actually a large framed photo that I blacked out for this post). We did experiment with turning the dining table the other way, but it didn't feel right and seemed to block the openness of the sliding doors. And I was leaning towards an upholstered bench behind the couch (for a casual spot to sit with the added bonus of storage for blankets inside), but perhaps that would be odd? Again, thank you all. Comments (27)So... If you are still interested in the Iris chair at all, just want to let you know the chair is actually grey, not brown. They are calling the color Pewter. It looks so brown on my monitor. Here is pic from customer review of Iris loveseat. This is the pillow that also comes with chair. (Doggie not included. 😂 So cute. Precious.) Anyway, even better. You could just toss a grey lumbar into sofa pillow mix - or just simply use only one grey pillow or throw if you prefer! As one example, this oversized lumbar from Target is fun. https://www.target.com/p/oversized-lumbar-velvet-throw-pillow-with-tassels-gray-threshold-8482/-/A-79587619?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df_free_online&CPNG=Home%2BDecor&adgroup=67-8&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=bing_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&DFA=71700000012733992&CPNG=PLA_Home%2BDecor%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Home%2BDecor&LID=700000001230728&LNM=PRODUCT_GROUP&network=o&device=t&location=&targetid=pla-4585581967312127:aud-805670406&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ds_rl=1247068&msclkid=5d9112dca58b12e8c5d14d5a74840855&gclid=5d9112dca58b12e8c5d14d5a74840855&gclsrc=3p.ds...See MoreHelp decorating long narrow open plan kitchen, dining and living room
Comments (11)Do you have any budget for replacing some pieces? Are you allowed to paint? The room is so dark--one window, dark floor, dark cabinets, and way too much dark furniture. The gray is so gloomy with all that dark furniture. That room needs warm white walls that coordinate with the cabinets. I suggest the following: --Move your living room furniture towards the kitchen area with the upholstered chair facing the window and front door. --Get a small round dining table and put it at the window. Imagine this only minus the banquette. Putting your table there utilizes that space. Drop a clear pendant over the table to let maximun light show through. Ikea has very affordable white tulip tables. Get comfortable, padded dining chairs that can be pulled into the living room. Yep, it means walking from the kitchen a ways with dishes, but that space is wasted right now. A dining table in front of a window is very cozy. --Pull the rug under the sofa so there's a straight, pathway from front door all the way to the back. --Replace massive coffee table with nesting one, up on legs, light top, round shape. This idea: That's all you have room for....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
