stacked cabinets or one tall with dividers and transom

I requested stacked cabinets but we ran into a problem with matching up our existing trim to the cabinet trim because our kitchen guy kept insisting that Omega cabinets didn’t come in certain sizes. So after a long conversation with my kitchen contractor I discovered that he was planning on using one tall cabinet with dividers at upper half with glass doors. This is where the issue with the trim came into play and the variance between ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ box sizes.

Anyway, with a $60K price tag for single boxes not double stacked, now I’m thinking was I being played? Or is this typical? I don’t have a large kitchen. This price includes demo, install, knobs, pulls, Pearl Jasmine countertop, and backslash. No sink, no facet, no hood, no appliances.

Would you recommend double stacked or one tall cabinet? Also, we are removing the bulk head.

9 foot ceiling, floor to countertops 36in, counter to cabinets 18in, 3 in trim
