Thanks Jim!! What a head-slapper! Makes perfect sense that the part of the rose that grew was the part that got sunÂÂ.. And yes, it is a new rose  only in the ground for a year now, so I take it the short side will catch up this year since I learned not to let it get totally buried under burgeoning summer annuals? Below is a photo (woo-hoo!! I figured out how to embed a photo!!) of what the rose had to contend with last summer, and the rose canÂt even be seen! The only reason why I knew it survived during the summer was because now and then a lovely rose would poke through the canopy of tomatoes! The roses in the picture you posted are beautiful!!!

OBF Ladies, So I just FINALLY got done at school. Last day for students was yesterday. I spent all day today moving to my new room for next year. I came home with such a sense of relief and freedom. I always check the mail when I come home and couldn't figure out what Bluestone Perennials had sent me in a large envelope. I came into the a/c, poured a glass of iced tea and opened the envelope. It was a $50 gift certificate from Maryanne! First let me say how wonderful this is. I couldn't wait to be done with school to get back out to my gardens. Now I can get out to the gardens and spend my summer planning what to order for fall planting (which is preferred here over spring planting)!!!! I have never been so excited by a surprise since probably when Santa used to visit me! Now let me say to Maryanne, I am so very appreciative of this that I can't even say. I absolutely love it and am stunned by your generosity. BUT I feel very bad. I could have waited as long as you needed. We still want you to hang around and trade with us without feeling obligated to do this if you are behind on a trade. We've all been there and understand. That is why I feel so bad. You were so generous but I truly hope you did not feel obligated. In any case, I couldn't be more thrilled and am off to puruse the catalog now. And here I was worried that the box hadn't arrived and was sweltering in the heat somewhere :)You have made my summer dreams come true! Theresa

I have a 6yr old DD and her room is painted Old Rose Glaze by Pittsburgh Paints (Lowes) on upper walls with white wainscotting below. And I am getting ready to paint an old desk for her in BM Sweet Caroline. The rest of the room is decorated in pinks,purples and greens.. I will say that the ORG has a slight purple look to it. I saw this rose at my garden centre the other day. It is beautiful. But i’ve Read that it is not disease resistant.
