Microwaves are for Cooking, with Donovan Jon Fandre. That show was on at the time microwaves were becoming popular and he had a good show to encourage people to be less afraid of microwaves. He'd deliberately leave a metal mixing spoon in the bowl to prove that metal in a microwave is not such a big deal. I enjoyed the show and learned a few tricks. Favorite show was Justin Wilson. Not so much that I'd do his recipes, but he showed that cooking is cooking, and don't get hung up on recipes. A little too much of this, too little of that isn't the crisis that some believe. Nathalie Dupree was a favorite. Her thing seemed to be to tip the bowl of whipped cream over her head to prove it was thick enough. I watched Galloping Gourmet but never was too thrilled about him or his show. It got old that he couldn't go 5 minutes without some comment about Treena. Liked the Frugal Pervert, er, Gourmet because of the history he'd bring up during the shows. Again, showing that measurements are less critical than many think. There was show, I think it was called Lavonne's Kitchen? Thin, younger black woman who demonstrated a lot of home cooking/family recipes. Haven't seen that for years. Also Franco Palumbo's show was interesting and informative. 2 Fat Ladies was a riot, though few of their recipes would I ever try. Can't stand the 4timeFelon and the Belle of the Bigots so I avoid them like the proverbial plague. I do like Cook's Country/ATK and Kevin Belton's show. ] I had recorded virtually every Cooking Cajun and Outdoor Cooking with Inside Help show and made the mistake of loaning the tapes to a friend. Tapes have never been seen since. :( And the shows aren't broadcast around here anymore. I did get a lot of his recipes downloaded right before and right after he died. He used to post them but after he died they pulled them off the site and won't give them out anymore. But he got me using and appreciating Louisiana Hot Sauce, and a pinch of cayenne. And after putting black pepper and parmesan on garlic bread, it's the only way I make it anymore, though I add Italian seasoning too.

Exactly, CLEAN hands. It's the egg (raw chicken, raw pork, etc.) crusted hands in the salt pig that I object to. Very few eggs are actually infected with salmonella or whatever but if it's enough for the government to have a cow over poultry, it's enough for me not to be putting my eggy hands all overy everything. I use 7th Generation dishsoap, which is milder on my skin than many handsoaps. It's in a pump you operate with the back of your hand, though if I've been elbows deep in meatloaf, I may still have to wash the pump. I usually use food service gloves for things that are too icky, partly to save my hands, partly to keep my hands warmer, and when it's something I'm going to be in and out of I use the baggie kind rather than the latex kind so I can slip my hands in and out and leave the gunk on the gloves. I'm more worried about cross contamination and putting bad stuff where it shouldn't be than the food, really. I'm not the one cleaning most of the time, and I try to be aware of where I'm putting likely contaminants and spatter. I'm not an oversanitzer, and I suppose the bacteria will die on the salt in the salt jar, but I'm still not doing it. It grosses me out, and it's a bad example for professional cooks to set on TV. The hair band thing doesn't bother me that much. These people on TV look well washed, and I don't think touching their hair is a big deal. They'll have a lot more bad bacteria from touching the doorknobs, food packaging, etc. People generally don't get sick from hair in food either. Hair in food is just gross. Sweat is surely a bigger issue, especially after it has rolled down a face gathering what it may...

Clearly she has some idea of how to make a lasagna. But, it would not surprise me if that was the first actual lasagna she ever made. Her technique was all over the place, doing everything out of order. I’m no germophobe, but what with the dog, the fingerless gloves and the hair (which did brush the lasagna sheets) no way would I eat that. Besides, it would be flavourless except for salt. I can’t believe she made such a thing (bottled water, geesh!) of blotting up the surplus salt, then goes through the cupboard and, “Oh, Himalayan salt- seven grinds of that”. And after she scratched up the frying pan with the metal spatula, I guess it’s just as well she can afford to replace it. You have to wonder what on earth prompted Ms Hilton to produce a cooking video.

I’ve probably watched most of them. Love the empanada episode. She’s very cute and real, like this one when she lights the cognac. I thought this one with her mom was cute, too.
