bar pendant placement
Hi there! I'm having trouble deciding where to place the two pendants that I bought for above the new bar area. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! I don't want to force them, if they won't look good, but I feel like there is some way to make them work. Should they be centered between the edge of the wall cabinet and the edge of the granite on the left and forget about cabinet lines, since it all depends where you stand anyway? I plan to have stools that will block the panel lines. You can't tell from the pictures, but the bar lines up with the far edge of the stove, instead of the last cabinet, so there's more room to get around. Thanks again for any tips! I know it's tricky to tell from the pictures, so I understand if you can't help. The light is 6.5 wide and 12 tall, so should fit the space. Also, the fridge will be replaced with cabinet depth. We just aren't there yet.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoThank you for your response!! There will be 24 inches between the side of the right cabinet and the edge of the counter overhang. Knowing that, do you think I should still center them from the left edge of the counter to the cabinet, instead of centering them from the left edge of the counter to the right wall? That's what I'm stuck on. It's 68 inches wide and the cabinet is 13 inches deep, so should I take 68 and divide by three, for the placement of the two lights, or (68-13)/3?
I plan to center them over the granite from this angle, too, instead of centering them over only the base cabinet part. Is that right?

Comments (3)A lot of people [including me] do 3 over a 6 foot island, so it's doable. In terms of spacing, I'd probably go with [in feet]: ---1.5---3---4.5------7.5---9---10.5--- 18 inches isn't uncommon, but works better if the lights are fairly small. We are talking 18 from center to center, not clear space in between. But the sheer number of lights might seem a little much, even a little busy. Less so if they are plain and white, more so if they are complex and colorful. Since we are purchasing a tract home, I'm concerned we won't be able to get the prewires moved unless we have something more than just for aesthetics. For that same reason, we're having to pick our battles by concentrating on getting the pendant lights moved, since it will be more likely than having the vent moved at this stage of the process. With that said, what do you think would be best argument for having the prewires moved? We hope to have a strong case when we come to them with this.
