Comments (2)Hi Imagardener. Your blooms are beautiful! Yes, I too am obsessed. When we travel it's often in a travel trailer and DH knows the last to get packed for a trip will be the 'kids. Either my tiny seedlings, recovering plants in fragile health, and/or anything requiring daily attention. And ALWAYS something in bloom!...See MoreHome from Vacation, now I am ready to have a vacation:)
Comments (8)(The following is a message from DH the computer nerd about those that are having trouble with the video on the website) For those that are having trouble loading or watching the video, first let the whole video download before pushing the play button. The second is that you might need the newest version of quicktime. Thank you for all the comments. We left again this morning at 8:20 to go and watch my nephew play baseball an hour away. We then met my mom and 2 of my sisters and 2 nephews at the park and had chicken at the park and let the kids play. The also brought my baby Hayden back to me. My sis had his hair cut ( it was in his eyes and I gave her the okay) he looks like a big boy now. Of course today and tonight he wouldn't let me out if his sight, I sure missed my little baby ( not so little at 25 pounds at 11 months) Rhiannon declared yesterday that she couldn't be 5 until she had a birthday cake. So my mom made an angel food cake and brought it down so Rhiannon could turn 5:) Growing up my grandma always made us an angel food cake for our birthdays. We have continued the tradition with my mom and my kids and nephews. Stacie who went all day today again and still needs to do laundry...See MoreAre you taking a vacation this year?
Comments (52)Previously I discussed how Jan & I take short day trips near our home in lieu of an actual vacation. I thought I would share a few photos of what we have found, but keep in mind, this is just the tip of the iceburg; Yesterday we went to "Old Sturbridge Village" which is one of our favorite spots. It is a living museum depicting rural agricultural and commercial life from 1760 to 1830 in New England. Yesterday they sort of broke the theme and had an antique car show. Imagine seeing not one, but four working Stanly Steamers. Stanley steamer 1 stanley steamer 2 stanley steamer 3 stanley steamer 4 At Old Sturbridge Village they not only have recreated the town, but they have ppl dressed in costume working in the homes, shops and on the farms. Here is a shot of the Timsmith plying his trade: The Timsmiths Shop at Old Surbridge Village On another day it was off to the Connecticutt Trolley Museum; Me boarding the trolley ride at the Connecticut Trolley Museum Trolley at the Conn Trolley Museum Or how about me holding a butterfly at the Butterfly Conservatory: Me holding a butterfly at the Deerefield Butterfly Conservatory Wathing a man train his pet Red Tailed Hawk in the art of Falconry,,,At Stanley Park, Westfield, Mass. Matt the "Falconer and his trained Red Tailed Hawk at Westfield, Mass. Oh but tomarrow is a new adventure to the Dr.Seuse Memorial Park in Springfield Mass and on the Springfield Armory Museum where they began making rifles for George Washingtons Army and kept on making military armaments into the 1980's And next weekend its off to the Connecticutt Air Museum at Bradley Field, about half way between Springfield Mass and Hartford, Conn. I could go on of for days and days, the Ham Radio Museum at Newington Connect, the Merrygoround Museum in Holyoke Mass, and a hundred other similar places, all within a mere 30 or 40 mile distance. A simple pic nic basket lunch, 4 or 5 gals of gas and home to sleep in my own bed, what could be more fun? I think I may make some separate threads on each of the day trips to give a better example....See MoreEver take a vacation alone?
Comments (45)Ive done some minor trips alone-- extensions of business trips, a week at the beach, a day or overnight in a city. I really don't need the company of others for the times when I am lounging on the beach, shopping or museuming. I think the key is to plan your trip around the things you very much enjoy alone. I used to rent a house on the beach where I could take my dog. My sister and niece would come down for an overnight.. sometimes I would allow a bf to come for a night or two. I loved those getaways but I don't really think of them as vacations. I have been looking at options for a trip -- not yet sure of the timing but I am considering a cooking school in mexico that offers a lot of solo time as well as a trip to Cuba. The problem with these kinds of solo trips is that you are at least loosely connected with a group. I am not sure if I'll enjoy that....See Morelucillle
