Home from Vacation, now I am ready to have a vacation:)

Well we made it home last night at 7 after being in the car with a 5 yr old (Rhiannon's birthday was yesterday) and a 2 year old. Let me tell you the car ride home was the longest part of the trip. We had so much fun. It is amazing how much more fun it is to take a vacation and see all the sites when you have kids with you. They are so amazed by everything.

When we were in Custer State park Rhiannon was excited to see Cantalope, corn dogs ( antelope and prairie dogs). Peyton kept saying repeatedly buffalo, buffalo, buffalo always saying it in threes. We also went to see the Flintstones, Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens and lots of roads.

The girls had so much fun and so did mom and dad. We stayed in a hotel with a giant water park so went swimming, down the lazy river and water slides each night. We did lots of travel too. The only problem came when I took over driving yesterday and missed a turn. Now in most places that wouldn't be a problem, but here there are only so many roads from here to there. So we ended up driving 3 hours out of our way. But we made it home in one piece. Or should I say 4 and a half pieces lol.

Dan updated the web page each day we were out so all the pics and video are up on our web page. Today we go and get my baby Hayden, I sure miss him after him being gone for a week. Now we have a week of cleaning houses and doing laundry and catching up on the yard and gardening.

So off to pull some weeds out of the garden, and do some replanting. After all the rain we have had some seeds either washed away or rotted. It is only 6 in the morning but my internal clock is all mixed up.

Loved the pictures...looks like a good time was had by all.
So happy for you that you are able to give the kids the experience of sightseeing. You are blessed with a lovely family.

I wish that we could have taken Hayden along with us, but he is only 11 months and I would have had to carry him the whole time, DH carried Peyton most of the time. She is so little that the top of her legs is barely at my knees. Being pregnant, there was no way I was going to spend 6 days carrying a 25 pound little boy. Next vacation will probably be in a couple years when Hayden and the baby to be will be old enough to go.

I have to agree with tina61 as we did the same exact thing after 9/11. We traveled to the High Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, etc. Was it a hassle for security reasons, yes. Was it a totally different traveling experience on this side of the Atlantic, yes. But it was necessary to get back on a plane and get over living in fear of traveling both in and outside of the U.S. We had always done so before 9/11 but were a bit leery of traveling with my then 12 yr old, but it felt so good doing it. The folks of the Gulf need every person who can visit to come to their beaches, drink at the bars, eat at their restaurants. I do not think there would be a health hazard to your children as long as they do not suffer from any type of breathing problems already. If there were a problem and you had to leave, you've had the place for free, done a good thing by supporting those in the Gulf region. Most of all, I would take the opportunity, for it's teachable moment for your kids. We plan to travel to the area in the Fall and I am so looking forward to putting some serious cash into the pockets of the suffering business owners.

I just painted my kitchen Cilantro Cream- It's a Behr color my painter had made into SW paint. It's lovely creamy, green light, fresh. Can't find camera at the moment, but will post a pic if I can find it later. I love HD's new sample options. I went through many before picking this color :)

You can go to work for me if you are bored! it is and sorry for not having it made up as it would have looked lots better. I am not happy with the color but due to some health issues it had to wait. I seen an idea about something behind the area where the lamps are that draws your eye up . They used mirrors but what about something else? Or do you think with different lamps with shades will make a better impact as I have to clean clean clean so dont want too many things that isn't able to be wiped down.

Love seeing your pics. Looks like you had some good memory making time with the girls. I know what you mean about needing a vacation to get over the vacation!!!

The famous wall drugs. LOL! We have taken the trip you did about 4 times going from Iowa to Washington. Spent some of our honeymoon at some of those places and had a blast. Did you by chance get to go to Deadwood, 1880 town or DeSmett SD, home of Laura Ingalls Wilder? Also fun places if you missed them, then hit them next time. Glad you had a great time.

All great places for family vacation! We've been to them all many times when our kids were young. Now they say they'd like to go again with the GB's!

Great pictures! I loved Custer State Park and the buffalo, buffalo, buffalo! We also enjoyed Deadwood. Mt. Rushmore was OK for me, but not what I expected. And I hated, hated, hated Wall Drug. If I never see a Wall Drug sign again it will be too soon! LOL I'm so happy you had a great time. Now rest, child!

For those that are having trouble loading or watching the video, first let the whole video download before pushing the play button. The second is that you might need the newest version of quicktime.

Thank you for all the comments. We left again this morning at 8:20 to go and watch my nephew play baseball an hour away. We then met my mom and 2 of my sisters and 2 nephews at the park and had chicken at the park and let the kids play.The also brought my baby Hayden back to me. My sis had his hair cut ( it was in his eyes and I gave her the okay) he looks like a big boy now. Of course today and tonight he wouldn't let me out if his sight, I sure missed my little baby ( not so little at 25 pounds at 11 months) Rhiannon declared yesterday that she couldn't be 5 until she had a birthday cake. So my mom made an angel food cake and brought it down so Rhiannon could turn 5:) Growing up my grandma always made us an angel food cake for our birthdays. We have continued the tradition with my mom and my kids and nephews.
