Can't Decide Between Two Floors! Please Help!
Comments (9)I'm sorry I can't select which tile would be better for you based on your pictures, but I can tell you about my own experience when we selected tiles for our master bath. Granted, they were builder's grade ceramic so the quality wasn't there, but one was called "white" and the other "beige". The woman at the design center said go with the white since our sinks, toilet and tub were white so we did. Well, the "white" tiles also had pinkish undertones, probably moreso than your tile. And when the room was completed, they gave a strong pink cast to the entire room. So, try to look at the floor in all lighting situations especially when natural light hits it. Whatever undertones there are will be amplified when the entire floor is covered with it. Had I given it more thought, I definitely would've gone with the "beige" tile....See MoreStill can't decide on island depth - please help me!
Comments (11)My DH pondered your responses and looked again at the space with the island taped out. We have 3'7" on aisle walkway with two stools underneath island - we can increase that amount to 3'10" by moving 3" which gives us 3'3" on the other side where our shaw sink and DW are located. Remember on that wall we have to the right of shaw sink the DW a bit of counterspace then it jogs R to the east wall. To the left of the sink are 2-3 banks of drawers and then it opens up into DR. The only claustrophobic area if we minimize clearance on sink side would be only to the right of the sink. Remember, the island which is directly opposite & is decreasing in length by 6" so there is more clearance between range, aisle to sink,DW and garage door. Hope this articulates what this looks like. To summarize, we will chop off the end of the island by 6" to create more space around the range, island, garage door. We will move the entire island towards sink side, AWAY from appliance & pantry by 3". DH will raise height of island from countertop height to an inch or two above that to create better visual interest between long island and long countertop on sink side. This is the best we could come up with. We did not have this discussion regarding clearances with our KD and that was a huge oversight on our part and hers. We have to work with what we've got. DH does not want to give up seating at island as that's what is driving the entire design from his standpoint. He envisions sitting there, drinking a cup of coffee and looking out our new thee bank of windows. It almost looks like living in a treehouse as we're up on the second floor and have many deciduous trees in the back yard with an open lot right next to us. Feels very private. If I could figure out photobucket, I'd take a pic of the plans I just found and post them. I've opened up an account before and that's as far as I got. Thank you so much, all of you, for your feedback. Lisa...See MorePlease help. Dinning room project I can't decide on
Comments (23)Thanks for all the input and design ideas. I am almost sure on the dining chairs from west elm. https://www.westelm.com/products/finley-high-back-dining-chair-h2914/?pkey=ccontract-grade-furniture%7Ccontract-grade-dining-furniture&isx=0.0.2975 I will be going again in morning to checkout the upholstery colors and try them out to make sure they are comfortable. No kids in the house, only adults, so not worried about food on the carpet. I will rethink this rug placement. I also like the idea of plating some evergreens in front of the fence, so i have a nicer view out those windows. I will update everyone tomorrow once i come back from west elm with the final dining chair decision. This table is 108 inches long. I think 8 chairs should look perfect with it. 10 might be pushing it?...See MoreHey guys! Just moved into a new condo and I can't decide which sofa...
Comments (5)I have the same dilemma and am considering the Solae at Article. Due to some negative reviews regarding the Sven sofa, I am shopping around like you are. I'm only commenting because of the previous comment. Buy what you want. Modular furniture with a low back is very popular and I personal want it for unobstructed views. It's a little insulting (or maybe ignorant) for a person to suggest you actually sit in a sofa made by a company that is only online. Also the dimensions of the Solae piece is equal to an average length sofa. I believe 2.5 to 3 people can sit comfortably. I haven't seen negative reviews about seating. Find an open minded consultant....See Morenellieou
