In this case, I would do one chair and pull it over to the sofa so whoever is sitting there can be part of the conversation. I would add a smaller end table in front of the floor lamp so someone sitting in the chair can use it. If there's room, you could add a smaller chair to the corner by the curtains for extra seating if you need it.

Where in the house do those 3 doors go? My initial response is same as katins regarding a smallish chair at the corner and window and pull

one chair into the conversation area. Are you married to your 2 round tables and floor lamp...or not? I’m loving the richness of the blue sectional and your pillows...very nice. Also like that you trimmed the white draperies in the same blue.

Where do all the doors lead? I don't see an overlap in the pictures?? How about reversing the chairs in front of the windows? The table between the chairs is too tall, it should be about the height of the chair arms for easy use

I think I might treat the small space as a little reading corner with an armchair and ottoman. Then get a small swivel arm chair to put in the conversation area diagonally across from the chaise section of the sofa. That way, the person sitting in the swivel chair can either be part of the conversation or turn around to watch TV.

The two tables are a bigger issue than the chairs, so I would plan to replace the coffee table with an appropriately sized one. It should sit 18" or less from the sofa to be useful. You may appreciate "C" tables instead since they don't have such a large footprint. Swivel chairs usually can't handle a table and still swivel. Pull the chairs up to the end of the sofa so they are facing the window and centered with it. If your chaise is reversible, you might flip it and put the two chairs at the window. I think you'll have to ignore the recessed area in front of the doors for now.

Thanks for all the ideas, the doors behind the 2 gold chairs are closets and the one on the other wall is attic space. I can get rid of those 2 tables, but I would need a coffee table in front of the couch Any suggestions would be great. My goal is to try to utilize that space in front of those two closet doors. I have a beautiful view of a large pond so I don’t want to put chairs in front of the windows, that is why I was thinking of putting them where the gold chairs are.

Using the nook by the closet doors is fine, but don't try to treat it as part of the living space. It's a space all its own. A little reading nook would be fine.

I'd get one larger chair, something comfy for watching TV, swivel would be ideal, and pull it into the living space. A lower rectangular coffee table could serve both sofa and chair.

I wouldn't go white on the media console. It will be too stark. In fact, I like the one you have now except it's way too short. Something much longer in a similar wood would look great.

Hi! Great space! The furniture should be arranged in the front area only. The back space you can accent with art, but it should be left free.

Here is how I recommend setting up the space. This will focus on the view, yet still have a conversation area.

Definitely treat the nook as it's own space (reading area, small games table & chairs space,bar area, or desk space ) AND then get more seating into the TV area. The nook idea should be finalized before you tackle the rest of the room because it will affect it so much. I do agree with Grover re: a white TV console. I prefer the more natural element you have. Also, while that console is a tad undersized for the TV,it effectively undercuts the "now let us all worship at the TV altar" aesthetic that plagues many rooms. Good job!

Coffee table needs to be seat height or lower and a white console is not a good idea with no other white in the space.

How often do you use the 2 closets...on a regular basis or on occasion? Also, I’m noticing the door to the attic is taller?

You are right about the height on the different doors! We do not use the closets at all. This is our second house, any ideas what we should do with the different door heights I would appreciate.

So what do you think about hiding the closets from view and still having access to them for storage, etc.?

That is a great idea , maybe I could put freestanding wood bookcases that I could always move out if I had to.. I measured all the doors in the room they are the same height. I was thinking of placing one white slipcoverEd chair in a performance fabric, but pulling it up a little to be close enough to the couch to converse. I am going with a coastal theme so I thought if I get a media cabinet that is whitewashed would be ok? I did not think I should have all my pieces with the same finish? Someone asked for a picture of the wall with the tv on it here are some more pictures. Thanks again for everyones help!

I agree with groveraxle as well about keeping the console in a wood tone. you need a bit of warmth from the wood to overcome the cool gray walls, cool blue sofa and white curtains. Seeing it face on, I don't mind the coffee table at all. It's nice to see something a bit different and the glass keeps it light and airy. You've done a nice job with the pillows and throw!

I like grover's bookcases, and if the closets are useless to you, they could be removed so you gain additional square footage and room for a game/library table in the recess just in front of the cabinets.

They're called Murphy doors and even Home Depot has them.

Good to know that about Home Depot carrying Murphy. We have a dealer here locally. I really like these as you have no projection into the room and can get more real estate for the area. I love the white painted finish for this room.Thank you Grover for your “tooling” expertise!
