Comparable to Pottery Barn sofa?
Comments (10)please help if you have any experience with the pb basic couch!!! i am in need of a new couch and the PB basic couch is exactly what i want, though it is more expensive than i wanted to pay. i have looked and looked, but haven't been able to find another slip covered couch that looks and feels as good to me. rowe's nantucket comes close, but the seat seems a bit deeper and i am short...also with rowe's nantucket, the place i found it at had so many different fabric types and colors, i am just not sure which one would look good. at pb however, i feel that they prescreen the types of fabrics and any selection would look good, so you just have to pick what color. i think i would choose fabric grade A or B in a neutral color. any input on grade A vs B? is B really better and worth the extra money? even though i am single with no kids yet have friends over sometimes and am a total couch potato, will the natural/white color still get too dirty with normal wear and tear? (i ask because i don't anticipate washing the slipcovers too much as i hear from others that you shouldn't or they start to really show even more wear and tear). Also, most importantly, is the PB worth the extra money? i am willing to pay extra because it is exactly what i want, but will it last for 10 years, or will it sink and will the cushions get all flattened out in just a few years?...See MorePottery Barn Valencia Collection - manufacturer?
Comments (1)Call Pottery Barn Customer Service and ask them. They will tell you. They will tell you that the manufacturer makes this style specifically for them so you can't get in anywhere else, but they will give you the name if you ask. I did this when I was looking to find out who makes their Greenwich line of sofas (Bernhardt)...See MorePottery Barn Twill Sofa - Cream
Comments (4)FYI, JCPenney makes a fantastic knock off of the cream twill pottery barn sofa. It's less expensive and very good quality. It's part of their Linden Hill product line and it's called the "Friday" sofa. I have a few pieces from this collection and have been very impressed with the designs and the quality. Highly recommend you look at it. Also, FWIW, Pottery Barn will give you free samples of all their fabrics. They have little sample cards made up. They are very generous with the samples at my local store....See MorePottery Barn vs Crate and Barrel Sofas
Comments (9)I agree that reupholstering your EA sofas may be the way to go. I have a pair of hand-me-down 60 yo EA Bergere chairs and they're in wonderful condition. They're well-made, comfortable and came back to life with new upholstery. Of course, if you don't care for the lines of your old EA sofa, then there's nothing to be done for it. I bought a vintage sofa on Craigslist for $25, found 13 yards of fabric at an outlet for $37 and had an old country preacher reupholster it for $350. All told, I got a new-to-me sofa for just over $400. I wouldn't rule out EA, Thomasville, Drexel today. Their reputation is that they're pricey, but they've really had to drop their prices to stay in business. I was in EA this spring and they had a slipcovered sofa for $1200 or so that I looked at long and hard before going my vintage-cheap route. I've never heard a bad word about PB, et al, so I dug up the article lovesummer mentioned. I'd be very interested in these same folks looking at their furniture today. That article is now a full 3 years old and I've seen plenty of blurbs in the PB/C&B catalogs touting improved quality and value. Interesting findings.
