Pottery Barn vs. Crate and Barrel?
Comments (3)Nancita, You may get more helpful answers if your question was a little more specific regarding what you mean by "prefer". I live in a metropolitan area that has both stores, and I shop (or browse) both of them frequently. I have bought many accessories and accent pieces at Crate and Barrel, and I generally am very positve about the style, value, and customer service I receive there. But, when it comes to furniture, I think C&B has a very broad range of quality (some nearly as low-end as Ikea/discount stores and some solidly mid-range furniture brands). Pottery Barn is not as good a fit for me from a style perspective as C&B. I think they have pretty decent quality furniture, but think some of their products tend to be a little overpriced. Also, I remembered while I was writing this response that there was an article about a year or so ago in a local magazine that offers a comparison between these two stores, the now defunct Storehouse, and Restoration Hardware. I am providing a link to it. For both stores, if you are buying major furniture pieces, ask who the manufacturer is and research them. Here is a link that might be useful: Article comparing stores...See MorePottery Barn Pillows & Crate and Barrel
Comments (15)I have a Lee sofa from the Coveralls collection that I purchased 3 years ago from Crate & Barrel and the cushions are horrible, (I even purchased upgraded cushions to replace the standard ones that came with the sofa after a few months of use). I was attracted to the casual relaxed appearance of the sofa. The problem is it's too relaxed and casual, the seat & back cushions must be fluffed up and rearranged after sitting on it due to sagging & indentations. Unfortunately the sofa is in the Family Room and it is used daily. The fabric I chose is great but the cushions are the absolute worst. I would not recommend a Lee sofa from the Coveralls collection. I believe I have the C2375-03. I have never had an upholstered piece of furniture look so bad after such a short time. When it is replaced in the Spring it will be given away. I have a few of PB Textured Linen Pillow Covers & from my experience they are a fair price for the quality....See MoreCrate and Barrel- lounge ii vs lounge petite sofa
Comments (2)Hi Natalie. We bought the Lounge ll sofa (2 of them) because our grown son has them and over the past 5 years with kids and dogs they wear like iron. I had the very same concern as you. I really don’t like the really deep sofas and worried too. But, we always seemed to be very comfy on there’s. We bit the bullet and got them 5 months ago for our new house. They are beyond great. Very comfy, and the depth is not a problem. We longe around on them all the time. If I ever feel like I want extra support, I throw a pillow behind me. But, to be honest, my feet are almost always up on the couch with me. Lol We picked out the fabric in Taft. (See photo). I’m not familiar with the fabric you are talking about. My son has a microfiber and it’s great....See MorePottery Barn or Crate and Barrel Couch?
Comments (17)Sunshyne, I have often noticed the same EXACT thing — furniture that is for “trade only” looks EXACTLY like pieces sold in big box stores and it’s hard for me to believe it isn’t :). And I can get a custom couch fairly easily — Sherrill for example or Cisco Home… :) the price I would pay to hire a designer for my home would be much more than their trade discount. I mean one can easily pay a designer 30k during home Reno’s and most aren’t going to want to do small potato projects. Someday when My kids are grown I would really like John Derian for Cisco brothers tulip chairs and can just call them to use my own fabric:) I’ve owned 2 CB couches (currently the slipcovered willow which I don’t think they make anymore ). I like that CB2 couches (at least they used to be) are made in NC, 8 way hand tied. The fabric holds up. I have a PB rocker and the fabric has pilled. The only reason I got rid of my last CB sofa (fabric and cushion were perfect after 7 years) was because my kids drew all over them with markers and let them drip all over the cushions. There are few brands I can think of where they are truly trade only at least according to their website (Minton-Spidell comes to mind) but it’s hard for me to believe that if you didn’t call one of these furniture stores as a customer (at the end of the day, doesn’t money always talk and spend the same:)) that you couldn’t get what you wanted....See Morejejvtr
