No to the dining light. Not loving the pendants either, frankly. Best spend would be a counter depth fridge. That said, both pendants and dining light feel too BLING/fussy for the kitchen you have. If you love the pendants, use a much simpler, and similarly metal toned linear fixture.

I'm all for mixing metal, but it looks forced here. Maybe a change of cabinet hardware to a warm finish. ........ But overall I think simpler lights would help if you want the warm finish.

I dont see the pendants working in your kitchen with the colors and style of the kitchen. I do like the proposed chandelier though. Best wishes

Stainless is a finish. Gild/warm brass is a finish. Chrome is a finish. Two finishes in the kitchen is "mix" enough. You have one in the stainless apps . One in the pendants You don't need a third, and pick ONE for lighting,................." ) please. What are the cabinet pulls? Pick satin nickel or warm gilded as pendants. Otherwise., it appears one could not make up ones mind.

Don't care for the pendant lights in the kitchen, they are overdone.

The light you bought for the dining area is not bad in and of itself, but it is a mismatch for the table.

The table is more clean lined and simple, the light fixture is more fancy, they just don't go together.

It's as though you bought a suit jacket to wear with denim shorts.

Your kitchen pendants are not the lighting equivalent of the classic Cartier ring.

A few people here have tried to tell you that your kitchen pendants are just not the thing.

It is their overall look, and they are oversized as well

We are trying to be tactful here.

What you really should do is get rid of those kitchen pendants altogether and purchase three new fixtures, two for the kitchen and one for the dining area.

I would suggest that you purchase the kitchen and dining room fixtures from the same line, so that they will harmonize.

Bring photographs of your kitchen and dining room set with you to the lighting store and have the salesman help you with the selection.

Go to a few lighting stores.

You will live with them for a very long time, so buy what is classic, not what is glitzy or on sale, and don't be in a rush.

Think understated elegance not flashy-showy.

To do that, we really need the size of the island, which a[[ears quite square. We've got a moderately priced suburban kitchen, and the op clearly wants a bit of bling. Or a mix of metal. The simplest here would be a right size lantern type pairing. And a nod to that in something linear. Or something like this . Frankly, the darker aged iron more suits this kitchen : ) and even the counter and paint tone.

Now, I didn't put a thousand pages of research to this. But these pairings are not hideously expensive ( Circa lighting ) and not over the top for the kitchen itself.

We've been bombarded with, industrial, exposed Edison bulbs, glass balls, cages, tube modern and all manner of everything. But all must be considered in the context of a whole which includes size, and the general look and feel of the kitchen. Making a good marriage when separate functions are involved as well. It can be hard to resit the "I'm in love aspect" of a single element. But you have to love within context, and the WHOLE of the result. Sometimes simple is best. Simple doesn't mean boring......go to the whole.

A young family, undoubtedly wanting a backsplash at some point as well. And that counter depth fridge wouldn't hurt, either .

what you are suggesting has been in seen in thousands of kitchen now a days. There is nothing unique about the design suggestion. I am sorry but my goal was to get some more class in the kitchen and uniqueness.

plus kitchen island is not square and may be the pictures do not do justice but the island is 73 inches by 51 inches. And the kitchen itself is 12ft x 15 ft .

the pendant lights that were selected were 17 inch diameter and 27 inch height. The rule of thumb for the lighting is the space/ rooms length + width so they not that big.

secondly your our comment about counter depth refrigerator may look good I get, but it’s not at all practical for a family , it does not provide enough counter space and not at all ideal except in store please read reviews on counter depth refrigerators online.

It will take some work I didn't have time to DO that work for you : ) So.......The point was a better marriage between the two fixtures. In whatever metal you select. Being "different" is also fine. But a complementary pairing should result.. The fixture you posted, was not that in my opinion.

I think the proposed fixture is really too formal for the kitchen and especially for the dining set you are getting. I am wondering if the pendants you got do have a coordinating chandelier or even as I think was suggested- maybe look at other lines from the manufacturer for some more coordination. Of course doesn't need to be matchy matchy but they should complement what you have and I think the proposed chandelier "fights" with the pendants. Can you provide the name or style of the pendants so maybe we can help?

There are some rather apt sayings I will quote-

"One man's meat is another man's poison."

"There is no accounting for taste."

I am not fond of fixtures with transparent glass because the glare from the bulbs gives me a headache, and with the amount of time one spends in the kitchen, that is absolutely a no-go, for me at least.

I prefer glass that is not transparent.

princemurtuza- There are a lot of fixtures that are just gorgeous and not quotidian, you just have to be willing to hunt them down, and pay $$$ for them.

The best thing for you to do is to go online and look at the really high end lighting companies and try to narrow down what style that you like.

Just create virtual "idea boards" for yourself, don't even look at the prices.

After you've looked at several luxurious brands products and made virtual collages for yourself,

you should notice some sort of commonality in your choices.

Then you can narrow down to the specific shape, style and material that you like.

Once you've done that, then if you would like some advice from the folks here on Houzz, then upload the photos of the things you are thinking about, so we have several items to choose from.

At that point, you know what you are looking for, and then you can find something that most closely resembles that in quality and style at a place you can afford.

And by the way, when you are on Houzz and ask for advice /opinions, advice and opinions are what you'll get.

And you may not like or agree with them or find them helpful.

If you want someone to pat you on the head and tell you exactly what you want to hear, you are in the wrong place.

If you paid a decorator money and she/he told you only what you wanted to hear, you'd be throwing your money away.

Solnva thanks for you comments the pendants were manufactured by Cyan Design and are called Camilla and they were just recently purchased from Houzz.

So what I was really trying to achieve is the white and gold trend that seems to be popular now a days but I understand these are little bit more in your face than I expected. I was hoping for dull gold.

Now with that said it’s easy said than done, I can’t just trash them as they were just recently purchased.

i am always open to constructive advice and opinions but not when people are just letting you down and that is not what I expected when I posted for suggestions. I expected more constructive tone.

At this point I need to find something to go above casual breakfast area that will work with these pendants.

Originally I had considered some other pendants over the island such as the ones below, but went with the bolder approach with Cyan Design Camilla pendants which I am debating as well As it is hard to find something that will suit these pendants. I do like crystal and glass and that is my preference, so either I look for a new combo at this stage to meet both requirements of island and breakfast or just look for chandelier the would complement the existing pendants. I can‘t just take a chance anymore.
