Thanks buddyrose. I absolutely love my silver fox. I'd paint that color again in an instant. Its got enough brown in it to make it neutral but enough gray so it doesn't look like beige. Abalone is a nice compliment but it would be too lilac to do as the main color. I use it the hallway as a neutral transition to the gray and other colors and it works for that. I made the mistake of using stardust and hated it. Its a really chocolaty brown. Looks nothing like it did on the chip. I had to paint over it. The thing about this particular shade is that they really aren't all that similar even though they right next to each other on the paint chip.

Thanks all! I did go back to the store and have them mess with the color a bit. I think I'm going to like the new color better (I did a quick test splotch) but I don't think I'm going to have enough for a full second coat. I'm actually using this in 2 different rooms so I'll probably use what I have left in one room and figure something out for the other. Sorry it took me so long to respond -- gardenweb was giving me guff when I tried to log in.

LFG can give off a purple-blue undertone in certain lighting. Just had it done and it was mixed correctly. I had our bedroom painted with it and in natural light, with sun, it is the beautiful gray most of love. In the evening, and with artificial light, it does put off those blue tones but for me, in a bedroom, it’s not offensive. I’m trying to look at it with an open mind and the important thing for me is it still feels soothing and fresh. We tried about 6 different grays on our walls (tan to start)... Analytical gray was too mocha, Chelsea gray was nice but a little too cement for a whole room. The key to make it pop was painting the ceiling Ceiling Bright White and we will do the trim and baseboards either in Alabaster or High Reflective White.

It’s the orientation of the room that changes paint colors. For instance, if the room is getting North light, you need a gray with a lavender undertone; Repose Gray has a lavender undertone. So, from what direction is the light coming? I also think cutting the ceiling color is not the way to go in your room. Before you do anything, paint the ceiling the same white as the woodwork, but in a flat finish. If repainting isn’t an option, get some blue/green fabrics and hold them against the wall. It should make the walls look more gray. It need not mean a new sofa (unless it’s blue), wall art, throw pillows, rug in blues will help.
