I don't have any knowledge about your first group.

I have good light in the kitchen at certain times of the day, with periods when there is fairly low light.

I auditioned Stardust - Very dark, very green. Turns out the color mix it basically black & green.

After many trials I decided upon Silver Fox for my kitchen & hoping it doesn't appear too dark. It won't be painted till Monday or Tuesday so I can't give you more info on it right now. According to the clerk the color mix is lots of brown & some green. It does appear to have a lovely taupe undertone and I haven't really seen as much green in it as I did with the Revere Pewter.

Abalone and Silver Fox are lovely. here's a blog from someone renovating a brownstone. Go down to the bottom and scroll up and you'll see photos of her Abalone. Somewhere in the middle is BM Quiet Moments. It's a fun blog.

Thanks to you both! It's funny that you say that about Stardust Katie, after i posted this, i found another picture of it that looked nothing like the first one i saw. It looked like a dark brown . . which is not what i am looking for.

Anyone else have opinions about gray in low light?

I put a cooler grey in a low-light room and I really regret it-- I'll repaint that room soon. The problem with a cool grey, especially if it's not super-dark, is that it looks like shadow. Kind of depressing in low light. A darker cool grey isn't as shadow-y but is pretty bold (and could be really depressing) in a low-light room. So, I say go warm. Even more toward taupe or beige than grey.

I absolutely love my silver fox. I'd paint that color again in an instant. Its got enough brown in it to make it neutral but enough gray so it doesn't look like beige.

Abalone is a nice compliment but it would be too lilac to do as the main color. I use it the hallway as a neutral transition to the gray and other colors and it works for that.

I made the mistake of using stardust and hated it. Its a really chocolaty brown. Looks nothing like it did on the chip. I had to paint over it.

The thing about this particular shade is that they really aren't all that similar even though they right next to each other on the paint chip.
