Comments (18)dig them up.. throw them on the driveway ... for a day .... and replant them.. and watch them come back..... correct ... one way or another.. its all happened to us.. frost.. freeze.. hail.. neighbors.. utility co.... etc.. etc.. etc ... is the spot that swampy... or is that the watering you did .. if it were me ... i would dig them up ... bare root them.. get rid of that potting media ... and replant in native soil ... unless it is naturally non draining ... then i would pound in some 6 foot Tbar stakes.. and put up some razor wire.. and suggest to he/she who should not be named... that you will use the extra wire on him/her ... if it happens again ... perhaps suggest that use of power tools while lacking sobriety is not approved ... lol ... ken...See MoreSpotted, mottled, blotchy leaves on my Sultan of Swing
Comments (7)l'm familiar with certain cold damage looks but not this one. What a relief if that's all it is!!! We did have that polar cold front pass through, which a lot of us felt, and I didn't cover any of them since they weren't very far along. It was because it came back the second year that it worried me, but possibly this is a spot where it got hit with cold last year, too. When looking over my photos I found another similarly weird leaf on one of my oldest hostas, my Krossa Regal, so I was getting worried my garden has some awful virus. But looking at how well the rest of the plant filled out, cold damage to that early leaf might be the cause. This was a good way to start the morning! I will keep an eye on them, of course, but today I'll go with the relief of thinking my garden is doing fine. ....Except for my non-functioning sprinklers during a drought. If anyone has pull with the rain gods send some my way, PLEASE! ....Or sprinkler repair people. With all the new builds in my area, troubleshooting an old system is not a job they want....See MoreCandice (Houston)
