Sattelite, if you don't want your carolina J, and nobody else wants it, I'd take it for Holy Comforter over in Ormewood. I have a trellis that needs something on it. I love coral honeysuckle. It's on my telephone pole (which I have permission to do!!) It grows at a more moderate rate, at least Blanche Sandiman does. It is rarely ever out of bloom, Hummers dig it the most, it's easy to cut back and doesn't go haywire. GGG

Here are some suggestions. Crossvine (bignonia), which is a native. Aristolochia elegans (Dutchamn's Pipe Calico Flower) Confederate Jasmine "Madison." these grow fast but they are not likely to bloom in the shade, unless your trees are tall enough for it to be "light" shade. Please DON'T plant English ivy, as it is extremely invasive and will destroy trees and invade your neighbors' lots. I personally love Carolina Jasmine, but it will tend to spread along the top of the fence, a lovely clump. You would need to work with it to get it to grow low on the fence, as it will seek the light. To some extend this is true for everything. I have seen people use a climbing hydrangea in your circumstances too.

I have several. The oldest is over ten years old and is totally hardy. They are all the "Margarita" variety though, so that is significantly hardier than other types. It is covered with blooms every year and is now well over 15 feet spread along a fence which is atop a wall. The overall height is at least 10 feet and then it spreads along the fence. I have two others which cascade down a stone wall and are 5 years old. They reach the ground 5 feet below and spread a bit. All of them are totally hardy, even on the windy hill on which I live. The first one was taken three years ago and this one is now twice the size. The second one is two years ago and that one has reached down to the patio below and spread also. They are totally hardy here, evergreen every year and virtually no leaf burn or damage ever. I love the flowers, but I have not noticed any fragrance.

Well in zone 7 might be tuff but you could put it in a pot then put the pot in ground.When you getting your first freeze cut it back and pull pot out of ground plant and all put it in garage or place were frost wont hurt it till spring then place it back in ground.There are some passion that are pretty tuff but not sure about zone 7 it gets preety cold and they could freeze .Wisteria takes cold well .If you do pot in ground besure to get the pots with the lip it makes it easy to pull them up and move them.I will say passion are the neatest for butterflys its so neat to see them grow into butterflys.I feel like a caterpillar momma I baby them so.
