The comment regarding the laminate with a veneer over top is fairly accurate. The word veneer should not be used rather a hardwood layer. The unique core gives it a greener and much more stability than most others. Epic also has the new scuff resistant technology which actually places the aluminum oxide layer on top of the finish which makes it many times tougher to scratch or rough up the surface. Are you installing yourself or having the store install for you. emAIL ME AND i WILL LET YOU KNOW WHETHER THE PRICE ON THE PRODUCT SEEMS RIGHT.We get the lowest wholesale numbers from shaw possible as we are a huge Shaw Store. We are also Largest Mohawk Store in our district. Email me with more info. Thanks....See MoreWould you buy your cabinets online?
Comments (22)I'm a little late, but I thought I'd respond since I'm actually looking into this right now. We will probably only be in our home another two years, so our main concern with our cosmetic updates is resale. We want something that looks nice but is affordable. It doesn't need to be over-the-top custom, but there are definitely certain things I want while we're still living there and it should be a "wow" factor of the house. I came across an old post from this forum which led me to the MKFUSA website mentioned in an above post. I spent all weekend coming up with a design I think will really work for us, but unless I want to spend $100, MKFUSA won't look at my design and give me input. The $100 is refundable of course if I buy cabinets from them, but at this point I'm so confused on the pricing that I have no idea what they would cost or if it's worth it to send in my design. The bottom line for me? Yes, I think there are plenty of people out there in my position who would buy online IF: -Great color photos (in the form of downloadable/printable PDFs) were available to show door styles, paint/stain colors, specs, and showroom kitchen examples -The pricing, including shipping, was straightforward and easy to understand -Contact information was readily available for questions/concerns -Some type of design consultation/review, even at a charge so you're not constantly wasting your time, so that once my order is placed, I can feel confident I've ordered all the pieces I need -Door samples could be ordered and then shipped back, free of charge, for a refund of whatever you charged to send them (in other words, price should include shipping so everybody wins-- obviously you would need to limit how many could be sent at a time and work out other kinks...) -Ideally-- and this is something you might not do right away but could consider adding down the line-- there would be some type of simplified kitchen design sofware on the website where people could set up a room of their size, and then basically drag and drop windows, outlets, cabinets, etc... to get a 3-d view of what their design might look like. I'm decent at doing scale drawings of mine, but I have to assume I'm doing it right. Software that shows what we're drawing right from your site would be ideal! It's like you said-- times are tight right now, and I feel a little crazy for even spending money on a remodel right now, but we have the cash and are ready to go. In fact, I'm not sure if our budget would fit with your cabinets, but if you want a "guinea pig," just let me know! Good luck with your business!...See MoreWould you buy and paint this cabinet if you needed a bookcase?
Comments (33)I do get the perspective, and having worked with Native Americans who hate having their culture caricatured, to belonging to a minority group myself that is often misrepresented, to me just not liking caricature in general, I can appreciate the sentiment. But the pictures on the doors might not even have people in them, or they could be covered with fabric if you like all the other decorative elements. I'm not a fan of Chinoiserie, but having said that, I have a house full of its cousin, "Japonaise" which is a little kitschy at times but the stuff I have, while a bit trite and cutesy is old and charming in some sense too. Only offensive if you were unsophisticated enough to think that Japanese people dressed like that now, etc. This is stylized art from a certain era which it evokes. My Japanese friend thought mom's things were charming antiques because that is not a style of art popular and ubiquitous in Japan anymore. There's corny stuff overdone for every culture, so you have to decide for yourself whether it is just cute or obnoxious. I have dorky ceramic figurines of a little Dutch boy and girl and they aren't very flattering to the Dutch as a whole, but they were in grandma's house when I was a kid and I indulge them still. But I sure wouldn't buy a lawn jockey and try and dress him up as St. Francis if what I really wanted in my front yard was a statue of St. Francis. Which would be my point about the cabinet. If you like the decorations and think it will look good at your house, buy it and work with it. If you want something plain, look for and buy something of quality that is plain. Comments (22)My DD had a flannel plaid shirt from Urban Outfitters a few years back that had that same back. I know what you mean about polyester, but this such a nice top that I give it a try. It is the type of top I would wear going out to lunch with friends or even out to dinner. Nothing where you would be exerting yourself. No, I wouldn't wear polyester if I am going to be outside in the heat, or grocery shopping and pushing a cart around....See More2ManyDiversions
