Hello Quilters! Have you been sewing this week or are you preparing for the Easter holiday weekend? We will be having our Easter dinner on Saturday with family. DS had to work on Friday so they are only going to be here on Saturday.

I finally quilted my Good Fortune mystery quilt and have to put the binding on to finish it. I hope to get that done this weekend. I also finished the Hanging Gardens top.

I want to load a practice quilt on the frame before I do another quilt. I have a small quilt top to use for practice. The blocks were from an online block exchange in 2004.

On Monday we have our Featherweight Club at the library. I will be sewing all day there.

What are your plans for this weekend?

We just had a change in plans for the weekend. Everyone in DS's family is sick. I may get to go to the guild's Social Sew tomorrow.

Hope everyone recovers quickly.

I can't decide on my next project so I have been sewing string blocks.

We will be having about six for dinner on Sunday. This will be the Christmas dinner that was cancelled because of the weather. So tomorrow I will be in the kitchen.

I did one side and two corners of my new brown binding a bit at a time and it looked great, so I went ahead and put the quilt in my Q-snap floor frame and carefully basted the rest into place with a quarter inch running stitch. I cut the binding even to join with a quarter inch seam. I back stitched a few feet of it securely into place and blind stitched it down. I noticed that my convex curves were now cupping a lot. I picked out and undid it all back to the 'looks great' stage, cut my joined binding, cut out the short end piece and replaced it with a longer piece to give me the length I'll need to avoid that cupping. I picked out all the little snipped threads, and vacuumed up all the evidence. I re-ironed the binding, tape rolled off all the dog hair, and re-rolled it neatly into a ziplock bag. Not only that, I stepped on a toothpick in the carpet and had to go get a TDap booster, so my foot and arm are sore. I colored my hair four times and had to go to the bank for money while it was still fairly orange. It frosted last night to 30 degrees when the weather service predicted low of 36 and killed the tomato plants I'd put out, which I didn't check on until 3AM because I was in a zombie daze while I was picking out all that hand work. LindaOH - I hope everything goes well on the sale of your house. It can be frustrating, I am sure! Lois - how exciting to spend 3 months in Hawaii. Do you have family there? Toolgranny - I hope they pass you over quickly so you can get back to your quilting stuff! :) Sounds like everyone has lots of fun stuff planned! My sister & husband arrived here Thursday and will be leaving in the morning. I will pick up the 18 vest & 6 aprons I sewed for our Lions club from the silkscreener, so I just need to add the Lions club patches to the vests. Then I hope to get a little bit of quilting in. I actually started piecing something for the retreat challenge - we will see how it goes and if it gets finished. I have a pile on the floor of things that I am getting together to take to the retreat. We leave here a week from tomorrow so I have a lot to finish! Sue

Donna, I'm sorry to hear about your mother, I hope she recovers quickly. Linda, what a cool quilt! I have a friend who has a birthday in November, and he hinted that he wanted a quilted tote bag so I've been playing with half and quarter square triangles... they aren't perfect, but I'm learning. He plays the piano and sings and his favorite color is pink and he likes rainbows, so I though this would be an appropriate fabric selection.... Not sure if I'll have it done by the 4th... I'm not going to get to work on it tomorrow because I'm going to Ocala to visit my grandmother... she hand quilts (only), and I'm going to bring my rail fence to show her... not done yet, but it's a work in progress. I nearly had a heart attack last night... I was surfing Craig's List for sewing machines as I frequently do, and found an add for a Bernina 820. I thought they were asking 500 dollars, and just before my heart stopped, I realized there was a 3 in front of the five! Oops... glad I didn't e-mail them! Not quite ready to spend almost as much on a sewing machine as a cheap used car!

My machine is working very well. I only had one thread break and that was because it was twisting as it came off of the spool. I turned it around and all went well after that. I finished a "Hungry Caterpillar" quilt and want to load another one just like it on the frame this evening. I got carried away with the caterpillar panels when they first came out and bought enough to make three. My oldest grandson has the first one and Samantha will get the one I made today. The third is going to a great-nephew who was born in January. I give the coordinating book with the quilt. I made the binding when I made the quilt tops so I have it machine sewn and ready for the hand stitching later tonight. The weather is beautiful today. I have the window open in my sewing room and it is still 73 degrees in the room. I'm feeling very productive today! lol Linda OH

Linda, I hope your family feels better soon!

I plan to finish my Monterrey Medallion top this weekend. DH is singing in two church services tonight and four on Sunday, so I will have lots of time to myself! LOL For many years I loved being in the church choir and handbell choir, but I sure don't miss the hours we put in during Holy Week and Christmas Eve.

It will be just us 4 for dinner and we aren't doing anything fancy. So I plan on quilting the quilt my friend pieced and sandwiched and maybe start ordering supplies for Linda's Zelda quilt.

We just got home Thursday after being "on the road" for the last four months! We put the RV in storage after church this morning and DH ran to the grocery store for last minute stuff for dinner tonight. We saw our granddaughter yesterday and they are coming for dinner tonight. I can't believe how much she has grown! She is putting sentences together now and they make sense! (She turned 2 in December). It just melted my heart when they came over yesterday and she squealed with joy, "Nana, Poppy!"

I am going to start getting my things together for the retreat and figure out what I need to take. I have a couple baby quilts that need to happen and a couple twin size for a friend's daughter who is adopting 2 girls at start of summer. WOW, busy.

I'm putting the binding on a quilt I picked up from the long armer and sewing a label on a quilt made for a Korean war veteran. This is our guild project. Then I'm sorting through my fabric and trying to decide what to take home because we're headed back up north next week. I'm donating a lot of my fabric to my guild but in the meantime won a stack of 12 fat quarters in a raffle. Not that I needed it but it's fun to have something new. I probably won't be doing any more sewing until I get home somewhere around May 2

Sue, it must be great to be home! I love to travel, but don’t know if I would like to be gone for months at a time.

I’ve had a very productive weekend! Yesterday I finished my quilt top, and DH and I dug everything out of our front flowerbed. We have a friend who is a landscaping genius coming next weekend to help us spruce up the front of the house. To give y’all an idea of how much we aren’t gardeners...we had four straggly azalea bushes in the flowerbed. We thought one of them had actually had a growth spurt and gotten about 8’ tall. Yesterday we discovered it was really an oak tree that had been there long enough to get that tall and have a trunk about 3” in diameter! LOL

Today I made two blocks for the BOM and a new bed skirt for our room. Now I’m taking it easy. :)
