I had a great time visiting and shopping fabric with K8...love that quilt shop in her area...i actually went back during the week and picked up more fabric that is perfect for my kitchen area...yup, fabric took priority over the Florida outlet shopping...guess I'm seriously addicted...lol! Comments (3)Hope you aren't coming down with what Hubby had in the last 2 weeks. It knocked the stuffing out of him, upper respiratory. There are several with the same thing where he works. I got some quilting done yesterday, might not today, have to be somewhere at noon. I'm quilting a spiraling circle starting from the middle of this square quilt, lots of wrestling with turning the quilt every few inches of stitching. I started out with free motion and then switched to walking foot. I happened to see a couple of quilts online that were done this way and decided I'd like to try. I'm liking how it's turning out but not liking the struggle. But I'm afraid that no matter what technique I use from now on it will be a struggle with this arthritis settling in both hands and wrists. I hope I won't get to the point where I just can't do it anymore, if I can't make a quilt from start to finish I'm afraid I won't continue at all. I took a lesson on a long-arm hoping it would be easier in case I couldn't do it at home anymore. It wasn't. In fact it was extremely painful on my bad wrist....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Comments (11)I'm working on my Cowboy quilt for the DH. It's made from a panel that's cut up, sashed and re-sashed. I had a photo, but no pattern. Someone offered to make me a pattern on EQ, so I tried to use it, but none of the measurements are correct. So far, I've had to remake every section at least once and sometimes three times. I finally got the middle section to fit correctly, but it didn't fit the side sections, so I have to re-do the sashing on the center section again for the umpteenth time. My piecing has improved, though. There are many lessons to be learned here. Mr. Seamripper has been very busy at my house. I hope that once I get the center and sides together, the other sections will be easier. I'll dust off my grade-school fractions and give them a workout before I start on the final two sections. bkay...See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? Feb. 1-2
Comments (17)So sorry for your loss, Char. Life sure does throw us some curve balls! No sewing for me for a while. We are in Tulum, Mexico for a month. I did start quilting my brothers American Legion quilt before we left Arizona and will need to finish it when we return. It will be for a raffle for their post. Theresa, my DH needed a crown & filling before we left Colorado. Our dentist couldn't promise it would be done - even with a rush charge - in two weeks, so DH said to forget it. My mom & sis have gone to Algadones, Mexico - just south of Yuma, AZ for dental work for years. We called her Mexican dentist and got an appointment. We drove over to the parking lot on the American side of the border near Yuma from Phoenix on a Monday morning, walked across the border and went to his appointment. She took x-rays and said both teeth should have crowns. Okay. His next appointment was the NEXT DAY! We stayed overnight in Yuma and went back. There was a rush charge for the crowns to be ready the next day ($10!) Total for TWO CROWNS and x-rays was $810 US!! One crown at home was over $1500! The dentist went to dental school in the US and actually lives in the US and goes back and forth every day! Crazy. Sue...See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
